Just like I remembered except . . .
These are just like the candies I grew up with - plump candies, generous soft centers and sweet/sour raspberry flavor throughout. They are not individually wrapped, which is a must for me. They were shipped immediately and arrived before the promised delivery window. BUT, they were smashed to pieces and stuck together. Maybe this is a side effect of the soft centers - they break more easily than solid center candies. Or maybe I just got what collected at the bottom of a bin. Either way, about 10% of the candy was broken or glued together. The intact candies are good, and I’ve had good luck with other Yankee Trader products, so I will probably buy these again. If anyone else gets these I’d be interested to know whether the abundance of smashed and stuck together candies is just this one order or if others have the same problem.

    I've been eating this type of candy at Christmas for 45 years. The past decade or so I've had a hard time finding them. These are pretty darn close to the ones you could get in the candy store in the 70's & the 80's. Pro: Candy shell is great, and has the same great taste as the ones I had as a kid; individually wrapped so they don't stick together. Cons: a little light on filling; individually wrapped so they're not as attractive in a candy bowl (these are pretty minor cons to me). All-in-all I give them an 8.5 compared to my nostalgic memories...pretty darn awesome!

    I bought these for my wife as a surprise; they were great. They seemed to be just like I remember as a kid and she agrees. The raspberry taste is good and the filling is about like I remember. Some did not have filling, but that isn't really a problem. However, there seem to be some inconsistencies with this product. What I received was a two pound bag of non-individually wrapped raspberry candies, which is fine. After eating many of them and giving some away, my wife ordered more (because they are some of our favorite candies). Mine were shipped by Yankee Traders, hers were shipped by someone else. Her order came as a two pound bag of individually wrapped candies, which is also fine, but the flavor was not right, they were smaller, the filling is more like a hardened gummy bear...

    I'm not sure if other sellers are just listing what they have as Yankee Traders product when they aren't or if there are that many quality control issues going on. I'm willing to give the package sent by Yankee Traders another shot, but I don't think I'll try any from other sellers. If I get more, I'll update the review when they arrive.

    *After ordering a few more packages over the last couple of years, we have always selected Yankee Traders as the shipper (when available). They always come as a 2lb bag of bulk candy (not individually wrapped). They are correct every time. We have not tried from other sellers. We'll just keep on watching for them to be available direct from Yankee Traders.

    After reading a few mixed reviews on here, I had diminished expectations for this product. However, once they arrived, I was delighted with the quality and the flavor of these gems! While most "retro" candy these days ends up being a sickeningly-sweet sugar-flavored confection mimicking the original candy in terms of physical form and shape, only, the Primrose Candy brand red raspberries were truly delicious and just like the ones I enjoyed at Christmas as a kid! What a treat and what a rare find! The inner filling is soft and flavorful, not just sweet; the outer shell has a tasty fruit flavor that is exciting to taste. I've had the "Brach's" version of these things and they pale in comparison to the Primrose brand. Confection artistry is what you find here. I'm very happy with this purchase and plan to buy them again next year.

    If you enjoy raspberry candy you will love this one. It's filled with raspberry jelly sort of stuff and the outside is a delicious raspberry hard candy. I've tried other brands but some of them don't have any filling to speak of. These have filling . Oh boy do they. They come pretty well packaged and in a plastic bag and you get a lot. I remember these as a child at Christmas. But they aren't just for Christmas you will enjoy these if you love hard candy with a soft sweet center. I put my in my mother's candy jar and the grandchildren love them too. Keep plenty on hand they will not last long.

    I have purchased the same product 3 time over the years. I love them in tea. Every other time the candies are individually wrapped. This year when I ordered they were not. They were in 1 big bag and they all stick together. Im trying to see how I can store them so they don't get stuck together over the next year. Please bring back the individually wrapped ones! We prefer them because they are easier to travel with and they don't get stuck together like hard candies tend to!
