Well, the previous reviewer said this wasn't useful, but I disagree. I'm not sure how you can complain about an app that only turns your WiFi on and off when it is clearly titled "WiFi Turn On, WiFi Turn Off." Duh...what do you expect it to do?????? Anyway, disregarding the apparent stupidity of anyone who might make such a complaint, I want to say that I use the app all the time on my Kindle Fire which really burns up the battery power if the WiFI is left on. It's the most convenient way to turn WiFi on and off quickly. Handy little utility and much quicker than going to KF's settings. IMHO. I keep it on the top shelf of the KF's "Favorites" so it's easy to access. Yes, it's a bit of a simple app, but there are no others on the Amazon AppStore website that do this convenient function. NOTE: If you "test drive the app" on Amazon, it doesn't work exactly like it does in real life. The button--in real life when installed--is large and green. When off, it is large and red. Their pictures on their ad only show one color as does the "test drive". That may be why it hasn't been rated/used more often. And you can't argue with the price since it's free.
I found it was not what I was looking for. This product is useless to me as my Kindle already has a wifi on off button. I was looking for the xfinity wifi locator like the one on my iPhone. However, I could not download that to my Kindle. That would be a lot more helpful. I wish I could give a no star rating.
But be aware that it can be overridden by other apps. But then, so can the Settings on/off switch. Mapquest overrides either one willy-nilly. I presume other apps can also.
This is just great for turning off or on the WiFi on my Kindle. It really saves on battery time to download my book choices or games and not go to the cloud. Downloading the app of choice also allows me to get to a doctor or dentist office where there is no WiFi access and read or play a quick game without using the WiFi. This makes it ultra simple to turn on or off.
I had a lot of time to think whether this app was functioning, and its ease of use worked fine. This is an utility app, where it's another method of shutting down the connectivity of the Kindle with WiFi. It seems to work fine on my relatively short time of ownership. I haven't experienced any problems, and it has a power manager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming. I got the app for the idea, that it would assist my wrap up, when shutting down the Kindle. It does help upon leaving and also conserving the battery. I can go quickly, after completing my time using the Kindle in any one place. I like having to leave the house and use the Kindle at various places or having to be waiting at an appointment or at any place that has WiFi. One example would be a fast food location to sip a coffee or get a bite to eat. I believe for me the Kindle is a fun device, and I use it for music, game playing, card playing like Solitaire, and book reading. An app like this makes it easier to check if WiFi is present or turn it off when I have to go. I found the price of nothing to make it a value-added device too.
The app stinks because all it does is turn wifi on and off. Without the app all u have to do is go to wsettings and turn wifi on or off. I guess it is a little more work to go to settings and turn I t off but it doesn't take that long like 4 seconds. waste of space.
A very simple app that does exactly what is supposed to to - make it easy to turn a device's Wi-Fi radio on or off.
Why would you want to do this? There are many possible reasons, but here is mine. I have an old Barnes & Noble Nook Color book reader tablet that I have installed an alternate Android operating system on. (This is called "rooting" the device.) The alternate system includes support for many things the Nook Color does not have, such as a phone, camera, and sound recorder for example. The support for all of those non-existent things eats a lot of battery power. My solution is to put the Nook Color into "airplane mode" - which turns off everything that communicates with the outside world - and then use this app to turn on Wi-Fi whenever I need it.
