    "Behold the Lamb of God" is my first encounter with the songwriting talents of Andrew Peterson. This artist masterfully creates a beautiful multi-layered examination of Christ's reincarnation. This CD is not a simple compilation of traditional Christmas carols. Instead, Mr. Peterson's scope in creating this tour de force is much broader. The artist deftly examines Old Testament prophecies and writes songs that emphasize the world's need for a Savior. He then reverently portrays the pain and sacrifice necessary for Christ's victory. My favorite songs are:

    1. "Gather Round ye Children."
    2. "Pass Over Us": A wonderful reflection on the necessity of the innocent sacrifice of the lamb for the Israelites. "Lord, let your judgment pass over us."
    3. "Matthew's Begats": A True example of Mr. Peterson's God-given genius. Composing a song out of Jesus' genealogy in Matthew Chapter 1 could not have been easy! This song is very catchy and wonderful.
    4. "A Labor of Love": "It was not a silent night. There was blood on the ground." Absolutely beautiful.
    5. "The Holly and the Ivy": A wonderful instrumental track.
    6. "Behold the Lamb of God". A song that is unforgettable. I've been singing it for two days straight, and it will make you cry. Beautiful instruments with this one, too.

    This album is wonderful not just for Christmas but for the entire year. Please give it a chance. A live version is also included. God bless you all and Merry Christmas.

    I first heard the songs performed at a Christian school's Christmas program several years ago and was absolutely blown away by the depth of the lyrics. This is unlike any other Christmas album out there.

    After I discovered these songs were from an Andrew Peterson CD, I got a copy and was even more blown away. This is the best CD I own...no question. I listen to it year round. I have seen Andrew and friends perform it (if you get the chance, GO!) and it was amazing.

    And as my family and I continue to move our Christmas more towards a celebration of Christ and less about presents, food, etc, we now sit down and listen to this album together each year, discussing from Moses until today about the need for a Savior.

    Final note - how much more powerful it is to have a Savior coming after passionately singing, "Deliver Us! Deliver Us! Oh Yahweh, hear our cry!"

    What beautiful music with rich lyrics. It isn't your typical Christmas music but it tells the story of why we need a savior and the truths of the Bible. We got this CD on a whim after seeing many recommendations and I am so glad we did. The entire family loved this cd and all the songs. Especially the kids. We actually still sing the genealogy song often when doing our Bible time. I highly recommend to any Bible believing family!
