    元になった作品（日本語タイトル「若き勇者たち」）から世界情勢も変わり、
    今回は北朝鮮がロシア軍の手を借り北米へと侵攻してきます。

    前作は荒唐無稽なストーリーながらも、移りゆく季節や
    アメリカ北部の大自然を舞台にした美しい映像とも相まって、
    どこか叙情的な雰囲気を醸し出していました。
    また敵側にも悲哀が感じられ、ドラマに奥行きを与えていました。
    （特にラストシーンにおいて顕著）

    翻って今作は、前作で見られた叙情的な雰囲気は皆無。
    今風なアクション作品としてアレンジされ、
    敵側も、ただの「侵略者」としてしか描かれていません。
    最も致命的なのは音楽。
    前作での血湧き肉躍る勇壮なテーマ曲、美しくも哀しげなメロディと、
    戦争映画の見本のようなスコアだったのですが、
    今回は、どの曲も全く印象に残りません。

    前作の監督ジョン・ミリアスは、ダーティハリー１、２作目、
    そして地獄の黙示録の脚本を担当し、
    「若き勇者たち」では、脚本と監督の兼任。
    作品中では、一貫して「立ち向かうことの気高さ」が描かれていましたが、
    本作は、その表面をなぞっただけの、残念な出来のリメイク作品でした。
