Product Description

Ages 6-12. By Becky Bridges, C.S.W., A.C.P. A game to help impulsive children think before they act. In this ever-popular board game, active, impulsive children learn motor control, relaxation skills, how to express their feelings, and how to problem-solve. The manual includes information on how the game can be used both as a diagnostic and a treatment tool, and how behaviors learned in the game can be generalized for the home or classroom. The object of the game is to proceed through the Feelings, Stop, Relax, and Think sections of the game board to Finish, collecting chips along the way. The player with the most chips when the game ends wins. Designed for counselors, social workers, therapists, and other helping professionals.

I use this game with my clients in therapy and in the school setting with small groups and it is wonderful! the game really encourages the players to think and express their emotions. My clients come to therapy and ask to play this game and I have noticed that my clients that struggle with impulsiveness really do get something out of this. Would highly recommend to any school counselor or professional counselor to have in their toolbox!

This game helps children: Stop, relax and think! My 7 year old loves to play this game and we learn as a family when we play it together. If you view play as a means to an end (and that end being 'learning) then you will certainly appreciate this game. My only criticism is that the game is sadly overpriced.

Of the several "kids" therapeutic board games I've tried, they seem to like this one the best (1st-4th graders). The little ones may need help reading the cards but they generally seem to find the game fun and can usually answer the questions thoughtfully. We made a rule that you only recycle back one time in each of the board areas where you have to go back to a starting point... there are three main areas of the game board and each one has an area like that. Helps keep it fun.

I love this game for using in group or individual social work sessions at the school I work at. I bought the expansion pack that comes with different decks of cards relating to topics such as grief, divorce, conflict resolution, etc. I haven't used all the decks, but I've played the game multiple times. My middle school students are entertained by it and are not focused on who is going to win. A lot of the questions are thought provoking and lead to conversations. Sometimes I have to reword the questions to help the students understand better, but that is understandable.

Yes, this is expensive, but it is a great game. I worked as a professional counselor, and this is a great game for kids ages 7-11 for developing thinking and coping skills. Most likely, if you work with kids in a counseling/therapy setting, this game will get a TON of use!

Disappointed that much of the subjects are for older children than my 2 grandsons who are 9 and almost 6. I was hoping this would be a good avenue for other options than their normal reactions and I seem to have to answer all the questions or give deeper explanations. Not that this is bad, just not what I expected and especially for the price. Wish I could return it now that I opened it.

My 10 yr old son struggles with impulse control, and often finds himself doing and then thinking. This game has helped him stop and think about what he is about to do more often than he ever did before.
But more important is that has been a wonderful tool of communication. When I talked with him about situations in the past he would consider it a lecture, tune me out and get upset. Now when we are playing the game and talk about challenges it has become fun and open. Great tool for parents!
