Admittedly, I like the Mr. Hobby line for a couple of reasons besides it being great products. I like that it's Japanese because I enjoy their culture and their attention to quality and detail, and because the Mr. Hobby line is hilarious and fun. Who doesn't get a kick out of saying "Mr. Paint Tray" or "Mr. Surfacer" or "Mr. Color Leveling Thinner"? I guess most people probably wouldn't, but I'm not most people!

In all seriousness, though, these are great little paint cups. They wash out well, you can scrape or brush old paint out of them easily, and they just plain work better than disposable plastic cups (Solo condiment cups come to mind). And last but not least, because they're reusable, you're doing your bit for the environment. I used styrofoam meat trays as my only palette for almost my entire life so far, but I really like these Mr. Paint Trays.

I ordered my first set of these about a month ago and liked them so much I bought two more last week, giving me thirty in total. They are so handy beyond just being a paint tray. I also use them to hold all the little fidly bits, like cockpit parts, landing gear parts, individual tank treads, armored vehicles tools and so on. Shipping was fast at two days. I’m quite pleased with these.

Cheaper than buying similar stainless sauce cups from a local cooking store, and they have a much smoother finish too.

...Not that I'm using them for food. Dunno if they'd be food safe or not, so don't take that as a recommend for that. Just that sauce cups were the only thing I could find locally that was similar before I decided to look here. Usually hobby stuff is mundane stuff repackaged at at a markup, but this was both cheaper and genuinely better quality. So: yay, Japanese hobby companies!

I use these to melt small quantities of encaustic paint. For colors that you don't use often or in large quantities, this is the best way to conserve the paint and make it last longer rather than melting it directly onto a heated pallet or griddle. The pans are just slightly wider than the end of a 40ml R&F block of paint and about 3/8" deep. Once the pan is as full as it can get with the block held against the bottom to melt, I then use a razorblade to shave a little more of the softened paint cube into the pan to fill as much as possible. Since I'm just using beeswax based products, I don't think rusting is going to be a problem.

I picked these up for use with oil washes and weathering on models and miniatures. It is great having these to use instead of the plastic palette I use for my acrylics. The oil paint and Mineral spirits was hard to clean off of plastic, but it cleans off of these trays easily. These make my clean up much faster and my life a little easier. I would definitely recommend these to others.

Much thicker and higher build quality than I had expected. The cups are very precisely manufactured and sit into each other perfectly. About 1 cm deep (roughly 3/8 inches) and has a base diameter of around an inch which leaves a good amount of space for mixing or thinning paints. A nice smooth finish makes them a breeze to clean as well.
