L-Tyrosine is a conditionally indispensable amino acid required for the production of the neurotransmitters dopamine, adrenaline, and noradrenaline, as well as for the skin pigment, melanin.     I needed something to help get me motivated. I suffer from mild depression, and sometimes have a hard time getting motivated to take care of my every day obligations in addition to doing the things that I know will make me feel better, like exercise and eating healthier. After about two weeks of taking this, I noticed my IBS start to flare up. I wasn't sure what I had changed, but I instantly thought of this. I stopped taking it and noticed my digestion improve. I am not positive that it was due to this, I have no idea why an amino would irritate my system, but I now only take it on days when I need it, rather than every day, with extra care to baby my system on those days, and it seems to be better.

    OK, so here's the deal: Everyone is different and I highly suggest starting slowly. I have a teen who was having a lot of trouble concentrating on schoolwork. One pill was not enough, but two did the trick. If you have a child with ADD, read Dr. Amen's book on the 7 types of ADHD. It will give you an idea of dosing. Some people can take quite a bit of this stuff multiple times a day. Just don't start that way!

    I recently took it for about 6 days, and LOVED the focus and energy it gave me. Then one night I went to bed, and just felt wound up and happy. I could not sleep, so ended up taking a sleep aid. I'm taking a break, and plan to take half a pill or so. I think this is a high dose for some people. Just be aware that it can increase thyroid function, so if your is already too high you need to skip this. Do a little research so you understand more about this product.
