A staple in my home since 2013
5 out of 5 stars
A staple in my home since 2013
I just checked my order history and realized I have been consistently using Frontier hibiscus since 2013. It’s organic and always high-quality. Hibiscus tea is wonderful for controlling blood pressure and contains lots of antioxidants. We drink it daily. We also use it as a base for mock tails, adding kombucha, pomegranate juice, citrus, juice, etc. I brought it on the counter by the pitcher, like a sun tea. When I pour it, I use a small strainer. Lately I’ve been adding lemon verbena mixture to the brew, which is also delicious. I highly recommend. Also, it is much more cost-effective than buying red singer or hibiscus teabags.

Package arrived rather quickly, shipped via Amazon Prime. You get a lot of product (bright red in color), and great value for your hard-earned money.

    HOW DID I USE IT:
I boiled 8 cups of water in a medium-sized pot, poured/added 2 cups of Hibiscus Flowers and some blended Ginger to boiling water. (Note: I Used Vitamix blender to blend Ginger very well, but any blender of choice, is good). covered pot with lid, I lowered flame to Low, and let ingredients seep for around 8-10 mins. After that, remove from heat and let stand overnight to be cool off, so I can extract every ounce of goodness from it. Next day, I hand-squeezed the flowers, strained it only once with a perfect strainer I purchased right here on Amazon, added a dash of sweetener of my choice. I placed deep red drink in Mason Jars, and put in fridge to get that cool refreshing, mellow goodness. All I can say is YUM, YUM, Yum--shut the front door!

    TART Versus NON-TART:
Though some may not like its tartness, it's definitely not an issue for me. In fact, if it's not tart I feel like it's not doing much in terms of health benefits, of course. Because if I simply pour hot water on it and let it sit for only 5 minutes, for me it tastes like water with color added to it, and that's not how I like it.--that's just my opinion. That being explained, just do whatever works for you.

    SUMMARY
This is exactly as described. It is thoroughly sifted and very clean. I had no issue with debris, hair-like strings or sticks, or any trace of foreign object included in this package/product. This made a delicious, scrumptious, mellow, drink. I drank to my heart's content. I highly, most definitely recommend it to those who may be considering future purchase.

    IMPORTANT NOTE

Therefore I cannot vouch for it's medicinal/health properties and benefits. However, I usually research anything medically and/or health related on Mayoclinic and WebMd. According to many sources, this is a very nutritious tea and loaded with anti-oxidants. It does have a powerful tangy taste and can pair wonderfully with a date when brewed and served hot. It can also give you many cups of tea. If brewing in the infusers that is inserted into cup, you will get progressively less darker brew and less intense flavor with each cup you brew, otherwise it is best o brew it in a teapot in larger amounts.

It can also be brewed and served cold for a delicious refreshing drink in summer and/or mixed in with carbonated water for a fantastic fizzy drink. Here is how to brew it for cold serve:

    INGREDIENTS
    > 1 Cup Dried Hibiscus Flowers
    > Orange Or Lime Slices For Garnish
    > 3/4 To 1 Cup Sugar. Sub for honey or other sweetener. This will counter the tangy flavor.
    > 1/2 Cinnamon Stick (A Must) or Powder Equivalent
    > A Few Thin Slices Ginger or Powder Equivalent
    > Black Pepper or White Pepper
    > 2 Quarts Water
    > Lime Juice (Optional)

    METHOD
Put 4 cups of the water and the sugar in a medium saucepan. Add cinnamon, ginger slices, etc if you would like. Don't bring to a violent boil. On a medium heat let all the flavor to infuse and the teapot to brew for 20-30 minutes.

    Steep with dried hibiscus flowers:
Remove from heat. Stir in the dried hibiscus flowers. Cover and let sit for 20 minutes.

    Strain:
Strain into a pitcher and discard (compost or dump in your garden) the used hibiscus flowers, ginger, cinnamon. At this point you can store ahead the concentrate, chilled, until ready to make the drink.

Chill and serve with ice or mix into fizzy water and it makes a super nice drink to go with lunch, dinner or standalone.

Add a little lime juice for a more punch-like flavor.

The organic quality of these hibiscus flowers is commendable, and the fact that they are non-irradiated aligns with my preference for natural and wholesome ingredients. The 16-ounce quantity provides ample supply, ensuring I can enjoy the health benefits for an extended period.

The reason for the four-star rating lies in the packaging. While the product itself is excellent, the package lacks a resealable opening. This oversight makes storage a bit inconvenient, as I have to resort to additional packaging to maintain freshness. A resealable feature would undoubtedly enhance the overall user experience and convenience.

Despite this minor inconvenience, the quality of the hibiscus flowers themselves is not compromised. The vibrant color and rich flavor make them a standout choice for those seeking a natural way to support their well-being.

In conclusion, Frontier Co-op Organic Hibiscus Flowers is a commendable product that I would recommend for its organic quality and health benefits. The only drawback is the packaging, which could be improved with the addition of a resealable opening. Four stars overall.

It is delicious and the Frontier Co-op product is full of flowers and bits so I don't even need a strainer. It is VERY good value compared to the boxed tea bags which are ground to a fine powder. I prefer loose tea. Hibiscus flower tea is recommended to lower your blood pressure and can be served hot or cold. I brew it up in a 3-cup Brown Betty and drink it after dinner to relax and I usually have a cup left to heat up in the morning. It arrived as promised very well packaged. I will be buying again from Frontier.

Made my first small cup of this lovely tart like tea and I was pleasantly surprised how good it was! I am going very slowly with this 'herbal medicine' to watch for any signs of side effects which is possible for some people drinking it. I did a lot of research on hibiscus tea before I had decided on purchasing this product and I am pleased with the flavor/taste of it. My plan is to drink it occasionally instead of drinking it for medical reasons. As with any food or drink moderation is the key.;-)

I rarely write reviews, but I was very happy with this product. Great flavour and fast shipping. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and wanted to find a caffeine-free, all-natural, sugar-free beverage. In a very large pitcher filled with cold water, I put a 1/4 cup of these hibiscus flowers, with 1 cinnamon stick, 1/2 teaspoon of organic stevia, and a squirt of lime juice. Let it soak overnight and you have an INCREDIBLE tasting beverage in the morning. No boiling. All you need to do is stain before you drink.
