I bought these for my creative little three year old for Christmas this year and I'm so glad that I did! They are so much fun and many people in the family had fun with them Christmas morning. Both my three year old and five year old daughters have enjoyed them since, making all sorts of shapes and "critters" out of them. :)I don't agree with the previous review of them being flimsy. They seem to me to be made of a very sturdy, durable plastic that will last for years and years. They've been stepped on multiple times with no damage at all. :) My only complaint is that there aren't more in each set. - However, there are still enough to make lots of fun things with --- I may just have to consider getting another set! :)

Update: We've had these for almost three years now, and I just wanted to say that they have held up as well as I'd predicted. My daughter played with these almost every single morning for two years. They've been stepped on, thrown, chewed on, etc. with practically no damage. I've never had one break. These are a wonderful toy for those little architects. I have five children, and not all of them have played with the Dado squares as much as my second daughter --- she is a very mechanically minded child --- but all of them have enjoyed them - as have numerous little and "big" friends. :)

My Grandson just turned 2 in September, so I was looking for something that was on the order of educational. This toy makes them think on their own, and it can be played by themselves, as well as create something too - colorful squares which is eye catching to a young child.

We gave these to our son for his fifth birthday not knowing if he'd like them or not. He's a big "builder" like his older sister, so we thought we'd give them a shot. He unwrapped the package and didn't know what to do at first (because they're not a known product like a lego). So we had to just barely show him the possibilities, and that was that. In minutes he had created a house and garage for all of his cars. It was impressive and cool to see! The product seems well-made, and we'll definitely be buying more of these so our son can build bigger and better creations. My only gripe is that the outer packaging that contains all the squares is flimsy (can also cuts fingers), and won't stand the test of time. If I owned this product, I would definitely put a little more time and money into a better container so that nothing gets lost, is more user-friendly, and stands up to wear and tear. As parents, we're constantly battling lost pieces, or toys getting mixed up. So these toy containers are a big deal. I would also put more emphasis on possibilities on how to build. There's a small sheet that comes with the set, but I'm thinking a poster-sized promo or booklet of ideas that stimulate creativity and excitement for the product. Again, we had to gently acquaint our son with these before he knew what to do with them. Maybe it's just because it's a newer and less popular building toy... None-the-less, we love these.

I bought these along with the Dado cubes for my 3 and 5 year old nephews. At first I wasn’t too sure about them because they looked a little flimsy but my nephews seem to love playing with them. They play with them a lot more than most of their other toys and so far they are holding up really well.

I'm sure this gift will delight our daughter at Christmas, as we haven't actually given it to her. It looks like it will help with her dexterity and control as she puts pieces together in addition to critical and creative thinking skills.

This is an interesting construction toy that was an immediate hit with the 5-10 year old crowd.
Colorful plastic squares lock together via slots cut into the sides, to allow abstract 3D creations.
Virtually indestructible, and easily washed as necessary, the whole set arrives in a very compact package -- basically a cube.

It would be nice if there were more of them, but then, you can always buy more sets and add-on.
Would also be nice to see these available in other shapes -- perhaps triangles, disks, octagons, etc.

I love the toy because it is a self directed activity and then they explain what they built, why they built it and any changes they may make..... I was surprised and delighted that they enjoy the squares so much....
