Editorial Reviews
Two CD live archival release. This double disc set captures a phenomenal performance by the version of The Allman Brothers Band that recorded the classic album Brothers And Sisters. Rebounding from the tragic losses of Duane Allman and Berry Oakley, the ABB was once again hittin' the note in the spring of 1973, and Nassau Coliseum 5/1/73 captures this important segment of Allman Brothers history. This release harkens back to the time when the ABB was commonly referred to as the "best damn band in the land," and is loaded throughout with incendiary performances. Play it often, and play it loud.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2023terrific show I just returned from college when I heard the Brothers were playing here. Got a ticket and was very happy to hear them again. I had to get used to no Duane and Berry, bit this show smoked. Saw them again at Watkins Glen. I'm 70 years young and still a fan.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2014This is, IMHO, on a par with Live at Fillmore East. A lot of folks don't like Mountain Jam, but the one here is just stellar, as is a smooth In Memory of Elizabeth Reed. This show could almost be billed as "the Allman Brothers Greatest Early Hits Live," as there isn't a weak song here. The audio quality is exceptional and the setlist is just mana from the gods for those of us who love the early ABB. I highly, highly recommend this!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2024I was at one of the two shows that they did at the Nassau Coliseum that Spring. I think it was the other night from this recording. Nevertheless, I certainly remember a very-young Chuck Leavell at the Steinway 9' grand piano being a wonderful foil for Dickie Betts. And by the second half, the whole band was swinging hard like a small jazz group.
The trouble here is technical. The tape recorder that they used at the time was, apparently, running a bit too fast. I guess that the engineers did not take this into account when the tape was played back on normal-speed equipment to make the final product, so the whole thing is a tad too slow and too low in pitch. Fortunately, my CD player has pitch control so I'm able to speed it up and get it in tune. But it's something to be aware of if you're thinking about purchasing this. Thus the 4 stars instead of the 5 I would have given.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2015I mainly listen to the Grateful Dead as far as 'jam' type stuff, but I have to tell ya....Chuck Leavell just kills it on the keyboards on this album...great guitar playing and wicked a$$ rhythm section...a lot of folks might diss this recording because it's post- Duane Allmann lineup, but do not let this deter you from getting this great live recording
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2016GREAT ALBUM next to Fillmore East this is by far one of the BEST I have heard from the ABB they are so tight . I seen them with this line-up back in 73 and forgot how good they were, glad I picked this up.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2020If anything buy just for the fusiony Les Brers .Whole how is great.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2020Bought this CD because the first time I saw the Allman Brothers was during this tour. Overall a very good recording, although, seems to lean quite heavily towards keyboards and a little less with guitars. Suppose it has a lot to do with Duane’s passing a few months before.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2014Awesome live album. Great versions of the classics featuring the Brothers and Sisters lineup after the deaths of Duane Allman and Berry Oakley, adding Chuck Leavell on piano and Lamar Williams on bass. Early versions of Ramblin' Man, Jessica, and Come and Go Blues. Very listenable, highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Top of their game
Bought every release in the series but held back on this one for some inexplicable reason.
I cheated myself out of years of phenomenal music. The sound is excellent.....the performance is exceptional. Don't let the date or the changes in line-up deter you from this excellent show.

4.0 out of 5 stars Du bon! du live! de l'Allman!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sólo para fanáticos del grupo.

4.0 out of 5 stars
