Product Description

Grout sealing is typically done after the grout has cured (usually after 24-72 hours) following tile installation. The 12 oz. Seal-O-Wheel grout sealer applicator from M-D Building Products is a handheld tool designed specifically to quickly and easily apply the sealer to grout lines. The bottle holds 12 oz. of sealer and features a roller attachment to evenly distrubte the sealer over the grout. The Seal-O-Wheel will simplify the application of the sealer and ensure thorough coverage and protection of the grout lines which will prolong the lilfe and beauty of the newly tiled surface.

    After reading reviews of several sealing applicators, I chose this over the other manufacture's product which consistently broke. I sealed over 1,000 sq. ft. of tile with this and it didn't have any problems. It does have a bit of a learning curve. The applicator wheel is hard plastic and doesn't absorb any sealer. When you squeeze the bottle, the sealer immediately runs over the wheel and pools at the base. Using a wheel that matches the grout size, this means the sealer also goes onto the tiles. I solved this by using the 1/8th inch wheel for a 1/4 inch grout line. This kept the sealer within the grout line and I was able to maneuver the wheel to get full coverage. You may want to practice a little to figure out which direction works better and to get an idea of the speed and pressure needed to keep the application consistent.

    This seems to have a "brake in" period and works better now than it did when I started. After running over hundreds of feet of sanded grout, the applicator wheel has roughened so instead of the sealer immediately running off, the wheel holds some of the sealer and this results in a more even application.

    At first this worked as it should for applying grout. After approximately 15 minutes of use the top and wheel came completely off the bottle and most of my grout sealer ended up on the floor. After getting things cleaned up I realized that the top only spins on approximately 1/2 turn. It came loose without you realizing it which caused the top to pop off. Bad design.

    Read my review of the 3M Scotchguard Multi-Surface Tile and Grout Sealer. If you have decided to seal the grout of your floor or walls, I'd think that you will be sorry if you don't buy this applicator to do help you do the job. Yeah, maybe the price is high for a simple, empty bottle, but I cannot imagine trying to seal grout without this item. It comes with two wheels for different sizes of grout lines. Just shake the 3M product, choose the proper size wheel for your job, fill the bottle about 3/4 full, and start rolling the wheel in the grout lines. The sealer will drip from the bottle on its own, but you give a little squeeze of the bottle every so often if needed. Clean-up is simple. Just fill the bottle with water two or three times after use.

    Scrubbing grout is NOT fun! After spending days scrubbing my grout I am thankful for this little item to help me quickly and easily seal the grout so that I don't have to do this again for a very, very long time! This item makes applying the sealant really quick. Next time I have to scrub grout, I'm going to use this to apply the Dep cleaner as well. I used the spray bottom the cleaner came in and a lot of it went to waste. Next time I am using this product for both the cleaning AND the sealing. If you have pets and dirty tile, get some DEP cleaner and the 20 year sealer and this item.
