      If you're thinking about it at all, just buy it. You will not regret it. Such a simple gadget and yet I probably use it more than most of my tools. I have another one that is plastic. This is the only metal one I have ever been able to find. It's nice and rigid, and all etchings are very legible. Love it.

      There isn't a lot to say about this thing. It's a piece of sheet metal with a bunch of different sized holes in it. You stick your bit in the smallest hole it will fit through and that tells you the size. Simple. It's thick enough that it should stand up to being tossed around. The hole sizes seem accurate enough.

      The only real complaint is the white lettering on the one side. I'm over 50 and my eyesight isn't that great any more. The contrast of the white on black is the easiest to read. However, as I was looking at it one day, I noticed part of the white numbers were obscured. Of course my first instinct was to rub my thumb over it to see if maybe it was just dirt...and the rest of the number disappeared! I tried another, and it wiped off too! Whatever paint they used for the white has about as much adhesion as a dry erase marker. Half the numbers are now gone just from normal handling.

      The good news though, and the only reason I am not sending it back, is that on the other side the numbers are embossed in to the metal so they can't rub off. So at least it's still functional and won't eventually become worthless. The only disadvantage is that the embossed numbers are harder to read. I was thinking I might be able to dab some white paint in to them and wipe it off to leave it only in the indentations, but I haven't tried yet.

      So overall, it does what is intended. I'm just not sure what they were thinking with the paint though. I almost sent it back before I noticed the embossed info on the back. Surely they could have found something that would stick better.

      Other than that, a handy item to have in the toolbox since my "old" eyes don't stand a chance trying to read the numbers they put on the drill bit shanks that inevitably get smeared off when it slips in the chuck...
