Product Description
You can think of this feature-length concert DVD/live album, which features all the crucial Queens hits from their studio albums, as a "to go" version of their decibel-happy shows, but that really won't be doing the three and a half hours of live, rare, and acoustic performances and behind-the-scenes footage of the band and their pals like Dave Grohl, Mark Lanegan, Billy Gibbons, and former Queens bassist Nick Olivieri making fools of themselves, justice. It might help to think of Over the Years as a 21st-century version of Led Zeppelin's The Song Remains the Same for the volume of its material, or even A Hard Day's Night for its willingness to show the Queens having a laugh, but they'd rather you see and hear it for what it really is--the definitive encapsulation of the band and their music from their not-so-humble beginnings to their current status as one of the rock's biggest and most dynamic acts.Included in the concert footage from the band's sold-out Brixton Academy and Koko shows in London last summer are live favorites from Rated R and Songs for the Deaf such as "No One Knows," "Feel Good Hit of the Summer," and "Go with the Flow," as well as new Queens classics from their latest album Lullabies to Paralyze like the smash single "Little Sister" and their most recent bombshell, "Burn the Witch." In addition to the three-plus hours of live and uncut Queens mayhem, Over the Years also boasts 75 minutes of audio bliss that covers all the bases Queens fans need to get the rush of their favorite songs performed live and loud shot directly into their homes. Also included are the brand-new track "Fun Machine" as well as "Make It Wit Chu," a previously unreleased gem from singer Josh Homme's fabled Desert Sessions, an ongoing series of collaborative songwriting and recording sessions where marquee musicians such as PJ Harvey and Deen Ween are invited down to his studio Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree, California, to join him in collectively exploring new musical terrain.

Jump (or be forced) directly into the three-plus hour DVD on this a/v split release for footage of Josh Homme and band on the stage in London during the hottest months of 2005. There are plenty of behind-the-scenes shots of the ever revolving group. Foo Fighter Dave Grohl pops up. ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons pulls a cameo. It's all here. Key performances include "No One Knows," "Little Sister," "Burn The Witch," plus smoking versions of "Fun Machine" and "I Wanna Make It Wit Chu" (from Desert Sessions Vol. 9 & 10). The audio-only disc provides listeners with 75 minutes of pure QotSA including a powerhouse reading of "I Think I Lost My Headache" and an appropriately ragged "Long Slow Goodbye." This often strange picture is a fine fitting snapshot. --Jedd Beaudoin

- Reviewed in the United States on August 26, 2019The best music DVD I’ve ever come across. The main concert feature is very well shot and edited. Intercut with backstage behind the scenes looks It feels very personal. The DVD includes tons of extra features that any fan would value and appreciate. A very comprehensive document. It has everything you could possibly want. I highly recommend. Happy Trails!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 21, 2015Arrived on time and as promised. This is one of the best live albums I've ever heard and I listened to to it on my way to see the Queens play a show at the Mann Center in Phila. (July 2014.) They are a great live band and this album gives the listener an accurate and fabulous introduction to the best rock band of the 21st century. Buy the album and you will have to see them live, You won't be disappointed. Steph Scintilla
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2007This is a great live dvd/cd. According to the sticker on the cover it is an exact recording of a 2005 show in london. No edits, overdubs, backtracking or any other studio magic has been applied to this raw recording. The dvd is quite long and the cd takes 14 highlights from the show and puts them to cd to listen to when you dont want to watch. One of the best live albums/dvds I've heard in a long time.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2013This is a great must have for any Queens of the Stone Age lover.
The live footage & some of the archived footage that are on the dvd
are amazing to see with different versions of the Queens of the Stone Age
line up.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2013This is one of the best live performances by Queens that I've seen on disk. This came with an audio disk as well which is an extra bonus. You won't be disappointed - they rip it up on this one, as always!!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2014Great live versions of songs that I already love. A lot of the album is faster and heavier versions of the studio songs. The live DVD sounds great but is pretty much just the album plus a few extra songs. Great buy if you are looking for a good live album. OK buy if you are looking for a good concert DVD.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2011As a QOTSA fan this was probably the best thing I ever bought, ever! The CD alone is worth the price and the DVD is priceless. Make sure to watch all the bonus material. All of it!!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2013Any Queens fan should own this. The quality is amazing and accurately shows what their concerts are really like. I thoroughly enjoyed this and so will you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good and HEAVY!
I'd seen bits and pieces of this a number of years ago (I think this DVD is approaching a decade old now), and all of a sudden a new Amazon recommendation put it back top of mind after those years, so I bought it..... excellent decision!
Always liked Josh Homme, and Queens and Kyuss and his thing with Grohl and J.P.J., "Them Vultures What Weren't Straight" (Grohl even played with "Queens" for a while I think), and even recently dug something new to me, Josh with Eagles Of Death Metal. The two things I appreciate most about the man are a: his resolve and longevity... he broke into the music business as a teenager, has never looked back, has played with EVERYBODY, and is today quietly one of the most influential writers, performers and producers in rock music, and b: his seemingly effortless ability to write interesting, timely, thought-provoking songs....... and still mercilessly beat the living s*** out of his guitar!
Yes, I like it loud, and this DVD is really kind of a perfect storm for me. It is a study (a VERY successful one) on what electric guitars and basses (and they're all detuned... it's what all the kids are doing) can sound like given the proper amplification and the proper accompaniment of a ridiculously huge powerhouse drummer. This concert film is big, ugly, loud and scary!... And if you like Petulia Clarke... you're gonna freakin' HATE it!
Still interested? Cheers, all!

5.0 out of 5 stars ich bin gelandet

5.0 out of 5 stars really good
The double treat DVD/CD reflects really well the early sound and performances of QOTSA. Bonus materials on the DVD, although of uneven quality video and sound wise, show stages i never seen before.
I was at one of their gigs this year and i really recommend this box if you want to see how they got on then a few years ago, there was already some good seeds there, and a great interraction with the public, along with their well known down to earth attitude.
Great to have the CD for the car too, Would recommend 100%
