    The large Thorlos arrived and the fit is SNUG. I returned the mediums (6-8.5) because they were too tight on my feet; the large are snug on my size 9 feet so be wary of that. The large socks also seem short (measured 11 inches from floor to top of sock) and the snugness on the calf doesn't convey a sense of longevity. The first wearing right out of the box was in my Brooks during the coldest day of the year, mostly around the house but also out to get food (it is cold, not wet!). The Brooks are not designed for cold weather, being mostly mesh and the Thorlo socks were actually well up to the task. My feet never felt warm walking to and from the car and the tops never fell.
    After the first wash, I wore them to work in a pair of Johnston & Murphy leather shoes. I work in a server room where the temperature is kept around 65F so we tend to wear sweaters and jackets to keep comfortable. My feet kept warm and at the end of the day, did not feel damp so again, the Thorlos worked pretty well.
    It has been four weeks and four washes and they have held up pretty well. I am still not sure if they will stay up and they are pretty short up the calf in that respect but overall, they are pretty decent.
