Great movie- crappy DVD
The dvd advertised as Direct play, closed captions etc. There is no way to skip all the previews so its not direct play and there are no closed caption options. Our family relies on closed captions so I am not glad that the DVD is not as advertised.

    The story of Rikki Tikki Tavi by Rudyard Kipling is a fun read, and this version does a good job translating the story into a movie. It keeps the playfulness of the story with the animated characters, their voices, and the colors, It also helps to highlight the evil of Nag and Nagaina with their voices. I liked that the heroism of Darzee's Wife was given attention. (Her husband did very little to actually help, but was a fun comic relief.)
    The way Rikki Tikki was portrayed was, in my opinion, faithful to the book. He is both playful and serious when he needs to be, and of course, brave! I enjoyed reading the story, and I enjoyed this movie. I think children and adults both would like it.

    Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is a an old childhood classic that I hadn't seen in many years. Upon purchasing and watching this DVD, I discovered that it still hadn't lost its touch.

    Rikki tells the tale of a mongoose, Rikki, who was found by an English family living in India. Rikki defends the family on numerous occasions from some very dangerous snakes. The film is only 25 minutes long, but it's a perfect length for children. The characters are loveable, and the story is superb.

    Yankee Doodle Cricket tells the story of young America, and the the fight for independance. This film takes a fun approach to education by blending a good story with some nice historical facts. This film is bound to have young kids singing yankee doodle quite a bit.

    The only reason I didn't give this a five was that I felt some more of Chuck Jones could have been included since the DVD only has around 50 minutes worth of material. However, for six dollars, I can't complain too much.

    If you were a pre-teen in the 1970's you've probably watched Riki Tiki Tavi as a TV special ..based off the classic book of the same name and adapted by artist / cartoonist Chuck Jones ( Warner Bros. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and animated version of The Grinch That Stole Christmas) ..here the animation is top notch in incredible detail and the story follows closely to the book while keeping the viewer very interested ..This animated TV special was a big favorite of mine when I was a little kid and still is a big favorite of mine in the nostalgia ...They just don't make animation this good anymore and never will ...Riki Tiki Tavi is a must for any real fan of true animation not the weak CGI stuff .
