- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2024Style: VaporizerVerified Purchase5 stars all the way around. Best ever. And I've bought many. I return to this one over and over again. Its simple. Does the job. Alleviates congestion, dry skin, dry nasal passages everything. If yours stops working or doesn't start at all or takes a long time, add a pinch of salt and watch the cauldron boil. Put a couple vicks pads and a spoon of vicks ointment in the well and a neti pot and I promise you will feel better. You'll be smelling roses again.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2025Style: VaporizerVerified PurchaseWorks good, puts out the steady amount of steam,and shuts itself off when water level gets low.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2024Style: VaporizerVerified PurchaseI absolutely love this thing.
Ultrasonic humidifiers require distilled water, lest the droplets evaporate and leave a fine powder of mineral precipitate all over your house and in your lungs. Evaporative humidifiers require new wicks (improperly referred to an filters). And both are susceptible to mold and bacteria growth.
Not this thing. It boils the water, and boiled water is pure and clean. It's how distilled water is manufactured. The heat in the tank kills the bacteria, but the water itself is not at boiling temperature. It's thanks to how the electrodes work. Only the water inside the plastic boiler unit reaches boiling point.
Some people find that their vaporizer stops working after a short time. This is caused by white limescale building up on the electrodes, blocking the current. Still better than an ultrasonic humidifier, which would just fling all that limescale into the air. You can descale the unit with vinegar, which takes maybe 15 minutes. But where I live, the water doesn't have limescale. Nonetheless, I've noticed a decrease in output over 2 years of usage, which could be caused by the electrode eroding away. This is what causes the black flakes when you replace the water.
Regardless, this thing is $18. Just add lots of salt to get the output up, and if that doesn't work, buy a new one. You'll still save money. The manual says not to add more than 1/2tsp of salt, but I add a tablespoon and it floods the house with humidity. It's mesmerizing to watch.
The worst thing about this humidifier is that the output decreases as the water level decreases. For that, I know another reviewer mentioned floating the boiler unit in a five gallon bucket. I need to go find that review.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2024Style: VaporizerVerified PurchaseThe reviews do not paint an accurate picture of this product. I did not discover this until AFTER purchasing and after writing an initial review based on their not being an on/off switch which this product NEEDS. Please be aware that the water basin will get VERY HOT! I don't mean warm it gets HOT! You don't want this on a surface that can be damaged by heat (or water). I'm truly surprised at how hot it gets and this seems quite dangerous. I thought the water heated as it passed through the mechanism and out of the vent, but it heats the entire water contents which makes this plastic basin get HOT! Have I made that clear? It is VERY hot to the touch which means you may need oven mitts to handle it just to shift it on whatever surface you have it. Not only that but this thing spits water. It gurgles and sputters and spits. I don't mean it simply makes a sound, it spits water out all over any nearby surfaces. This is NOT good! It also creates condensation around the vent from the steam which drips down and will pool around the tank on whatever surface you have it. This will ruin wood furniture quickly. If you reference Google you'll find that Vick's offers suggestions like making sure the tank isn't overfilled or you don't add too much salt. Mine is new out the box with no salt or additives and the water level is fine. I've run this thing 20 minutes and it's sputtering and the tank is way too hot. Based on responses in the questions section my unit doesn't seem defective. It seems this is precisely how it functions and is what most customers experience, not the glowing reviews. That is not acceptable. I'm highly disappointed and expected better performance. I have TWO Vick's cool mist humidifiers that I absolutely love (although both have design flaws that defy common sense as well) but this product comes with several risks that aren't worth it since some are potentially dangerous. It is rare that I write a bad review and when I do it's even rarer that it's regarding a known trusted brand like Vick's. No, just no on this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funciona como debe

5.0 out of 5 stars
<追記>
3シーズン使った古い個体は、丹念に電極棒の付着物を削ぎ落としたところ、塩素臭は全くなくなりました。予備機として活用します。
