- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2011Simple Pleasures is just that. It is a timeless collaboration, of two of the worlds most talented and time honored jazz artists. It is always a joy to sit back and enjoy the soulful sounds and vocals of Ms. Nancy and Ramsey Lewis. The selections bring back memories and makes your soul sing. Sit back enjoy alone or with the one you love. This is surely a class act. I had been searching for this cd, or shold I say album for a long time. It is like finding buried treasure. I am so pleased and so will you.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2003134 years. That's the combined ages of Lewis (68) and Wilson (66). Each has been a jazz force for over forty years; thus, it's a no-brainer that when they come together for this, their third collaboration, it could be nothing short of perfection.
Backed by a sextet of Henry Johnson (guitar), Alejo Poveda (percussion), Llew Mathews (electric keyboards), Orbert Davis (trumpet), Tracy Kirk (trombone), and Steve Eisen (tenor sax and flute), Lewis and Wilson shine on covers of tunes made popular by others.
War's "Slippin' Into Darkness", DeBarge's "All This Love", Lennon and McCartney's "In My Life", and Billie Holiday's signature classic "God Bless the Child" all get the treatment that only real musicians like Lewis and Wilson can give.
This is 54:35 of such a "simple pleasure" that it can become addictive.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 19, 2004Had the absolute pleasure of experiencing these classic performers in concert together at Cerritos in 2003 with both legends in peak form and Diva Supreme Nancy in her form fitting plum and red gowns rocked the sold-out crowd and looked sensational and sounded very soulful! This great collection was featured in this thrilling concert and for anyone who enjoys the ultimate, do not miss this wondrous release. With any luck this magical musical team will release more but for now, thank you Nancy and Ramsey for making such beautiful music together and you both are the greatest...Nancy Wilson you look gorgeous and sound incredible!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2003I'm one of Nancy Wilson's biggest fans. The songs in this album, however, do not showcase her talents. The orchestral arrangements are saccharine sweet and Nancy's phrasing choices are bizarre. It's hard to believe this is the same singer who sang definitive versions of standards such as "The Masquerade is Over". Nancy is not a belter and she sings R&B songs that are completely ill-suited to her voice. Her new singing style sounds forced and downright bizarre. I hope her next album (RSVP- Rare Songs, Very Personal) will have better material and better vocal arrangements.
