This was a lot better quality than I expected for the price--a decent thickness, and stayed where I put it. The mouse glided across this thing like it was ice! In fact, the pad was so slick, that my mouse would actually go flying off the desk if I wasn't careful. There were some customers complaining this thing smelled, but I didn't notice any odor in particular. Of course, I didn't stick it up to my nose to smell it either, so it might have had the typical "new vinyl/plastic" smell when first opened that usually fades quickly. In my experience, I really don't remember any smell. The pad didn't last very long though because I'm a clutz and have a messy desk. The very day I got it, I managed to spill black calligraphy ink on the pad. I got most of it off, but it was black, water-resistant ink. It was still usable up until the time I managed to set a hot heat gun on the pad, which caused it to melt where the metal hit it. I intend to order another of these though if I can. The original color doesn't seem to be available anymore at the time of this review, but I am not particular about that. The mouse pad is cheap, it works, and I won't feel bad if I have another mishap with this one. I recommend this item for anyone who is looking for a functional budget mouse pad and is okay with the Plain Jane appearance.

Shorter Vertical Length than Advertised - Bad for Gaming
I was looking for a backup mouse pad that would work for both office use and long video game sessions. Unfortunately it could only perform for basic office use. For what it's worth, this mouse pad feels really smooth to the touch, and my mouse has no issues gliding over it. However, as you can see from the picture, it's not a full 8 inches (even with the slight ruler tilt [in favor of the mouse pad]). For basic office use this isn't much of a worry. However, for gaming it's absolutely a no-buy. If a company is selling me a product with already-limited space, I'd appreciate receiving exactly the space I paid for as advertised (i.e. a full 8 inches as opposed to the 7 & 5/8th inches I got) As even a casual gamer, you will feel most comfortable with generous horizontal *and* vertical space. However, since this mouse pad's vertical length is actually LESS than 8 inches, it makes vertical movements in games a hassle with very limited room. Therefor as an overall mousepad it does a really good job. But with the false advertising, I have to take a point away. Shame on Belkin for skimping out on literally 3 eighths of an inch! That's a mere couple of pennies!

QUALITY? 8/10 ~ When you first open up the package it strongly smells like plastic. But after a few days it goes away. The quality is nice. It does the job. It's not too rough or annoying and my computer mouse moves around with no problem on it. Though it gets dirty a little too fast because the material used to make this sort of absorbs dirt and dust and since the color is black it's really noticeable. It's still super worth it considering how cheap it is though.
SIZE? 10/10 ~ Big enough. I do video editing and I also do computer gaming. When you game you need to move the mouse all over the place but thanks to the decent size of this thing I never had problems.
PRICE? 10/10 ~ The price is honestly a joke. It's so cheap not event he dollar store would be able to beat it. And it comes with free shipping as an option? No way? I'd buy this thing 10 times over and still be happy with it. Other online or local stores sell these things for like $15 - $20!
