In The New Method: Precision Pilates, Kries uses the same techniques from her standout video The Method: Pilates Precision Toning but coordinates them into three main segments focusing on upper body, lower body, and overall flexibility.

While the main focus is on Pilates-based technique, Kries combines ballet and yoga movements in all three workouts to create an exciting routine that is challenging to all muscle groups but easy to follow. If you can't tell your grand plié from your plank position, don't worry--the movements are simple and repetitive, and you can always stop the segment and start over without wearing yourself out. The best thing about Kries's class is that you may not feel like you are working hard, but you will be sore the next day, as long as you focus your attention and listen to your body. In fact, the DVD allows you the luxury of three camera-view choices to really perfect your form.

Set to a groovy Latin drum beat, the first two segments work on strengthening the major muscles of the arms, back, legs, and, of course, the abdominals.     Precision Pilates is the second tape with Jennifer Kries that I have used. I've tried several other tapes with other instructors and, hands down Kries is the best. Her workouts are clearly demonstrated and her explanations for doing the different techniques are easily understood. One of the features I really appreciate is her ability to make you feel that with time and practice you, too, can do the workouts as fully as she does. Yet another aspect of her workouts I find positive, is the sense of discipline and structure she gives to the all her work. I would say this tape would be more for an intermediate level but a determined beginner could certainly work with it. The tape has 3 segments. I really appreciate this feature since I can either do one segment or 2 and still feel that I've had a complete workout. Kries incorporates yoga, pilates and ballet in this tape and that's wonderful. You never get bored doing the same thing over and over. I can't say enough good about her work and I urge anyone who is serious about improving the way they look and feel to try her tapes.

    Love the slow pace of these fantastic exercises to feel lined up and relaxed while also burning your muscles.

    Very good instruction and a nice mixture of standing exercises with some mat work.

    This is one of my favorite go to workouts. Over the years I have worn out a few VHS’s. I’m glad to have this in a DVD. I always feel happy after this workout.

    With consistent use it truly sculpts you and really gets you toned up. I love this tape and have been using it for years, replacing it whenever needed as it doesn't last forever being a vhs. I wouldn't use anything else this tape truly gets you amazing results!

    Having "done it all" (every aerobics class imaginable, step, stair climbing, weight lifting, fast walking, kickboxing), I was looking for something new and different to try. Boy, did I find it here. Don't let Jennifer Kries' low-key manner lull you into thinking this is a wussie workout! You may not be panting and sweating when it's over, but the following day you will get up sore in places that will shock you. I actually had soreness in my triceps, something I've not experienced in all my work with weights and machines. The only reason I can't give this video 5 stars is I feel the "roll-up" exercises could cause back problems, especially if your abs aren't in the greatest shape. I felt some lower-back twinges the day after I first tried this tape, and I have NO history of back pain whatsoever.

    This video contains very little Pilates, it is mostly yoga. I felt very misled by the title. It has a decent workout, but if Pilates is what you're after you will not find it here. I did yoga for atleast three years and have started doing pilates in the last six months, so I have a pretty good idea of what yoga and pilates are.

    I have been using "The Pilates Body" by Brooke Siler for my Pilates workout. I'm glad I started with this book instead of this tape, because I think that people that start with this tape will be quickly discouraged.
    My main complaint with this tape, though it does an excellent job of describing the exercises is that it mixes advanced and beginner moves in the same workout. One thing that Pilates Body by Brooke Siler does is isolate those workouts, so you can begin at your own pace. You can do just the beginners exercises first and work up to the more advanced ones later. Let's face it, we are not all built like this girl or likely to be.
    Also this tape does not give you a sense of which exercise goes into which. I don't know if this is typical in exercise tapes as this is the first exercise tape I've owned. However what I like to have is a list of specific exercises and what comes after what. The tape instersperses exercise with stretches so that when following it you are likely to lose track. I wish she would show a break in the exercises and give a list, or this tape was bundled with a book. Also at times she does not give you an idea how many repetitions to do for each exercise.
    The reason I bought the tape, is one of the very minor shortcomings of "The Pilates Body" and it is only because it is a book, it cannot show movement as well as a video. I was unsure I was doing the breathing on "The Hundred" correctly and the speed of the curl up right. Come to find out, I was doing "The Hundred" incorrectly but effectively enough and the curl up much faster than I should have. All in all, "The Pilates Body" being a book did well by me regardless.
    If you have bought this tape and gotten frustrated with Pilates, go out and buy the Pilates Body by Brooke Siler and you will be much happier.
