Yakin--whose debut, Fresh, was one of the best independent films of the 1990s--understands the value of connecting small scenes to form a rich climactic payoff. I love this movie and have watched it several times over the years. My wife had never seen it and I wanted her to see it. She really enjoyed it too and it gave her insight to the struggle of racism that she also experienced in that same time frame back on the east coast. She also grew with a greater appreciation for the game of football and how it is a vehicle to help boys learn discipline and leadership to become good men.

in Form eines Football- Teams, welches gegen jene Regel ankämpft und Schwarz und Weiss verbindet.
Sehr berührend und nicht nur ein Film für Sportfans. Und ehrlich gesagt, ich habe das so nicht erwartet.

Ein bedeutendes und emotionsgeladenes Portrait über den Sport- und die Tatsache, dass es auch auf dem Spielfeld,
oder gerade dort, keinesfalls Unterschiede zwischen Schwarzen und Weissen geben sollte.
Denn....wir alle leben auf demselben Planeten. Und wir alle atmen die gleiche Luft. Und sehen die gleiche Sonne.

Als ich den Film das allererste Mal gesehen habe, hat er mich wirklich tief berührt, amüsiert und einfach gepackt. Es geht um eine Footballmannschaft einer Highschool, die zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte aus weissen und auch schwarzen Schülern bestehen soll. Nicht zuletzt, weil der neue Coach ebenfalls afroamerikanischer Abstammung ist. Im damaligen Amerika skandalös. Und so kommt es wie es kommen muss, Vorurteile, Unwissenheit und Ignoranz machen das Miteinander mehr als schwierig. Doch während die Jungs lernen und alles Schranken überwinden, ist es um sie herum noch lange nicht soweit... Ohne zuviel verraten zu wollen, aber dieser Film ist nicht nur wegen der Action bei den sportlichen Szenen sehenswert, sondern berührt einfach. Wie aus Ignoranz tiefe Freundschaft wird. Ich selbst kann mir diesen Film immer und immer wieder ansehen und ich kriege immer wieder aufs neue eine Gänsehaut, also wenn ich nicht gerade voller Begeisterung den Spielszenen folge. ;o)

I have seen "Remember the Titans" about five times now and it gets me every time, one of my all time favourite movies.

It's got Denzel Washington who, in my book, is always worth watching. But it also has Will Patton as Coach Yoast. Mr Patton isn't a big name but he is an excellent character actor who works consistently. There isn't one bad note with the casting - everyone is superb.

You don't need to understand American football to love this film. It's about the human spirit, about shedding prejudices, about recognising and accepting the differences in people and realising that the human race has many faces. It's a film that uplifts you, you watch it and come away in a good mood. It's about how if we all pull together, we might just achieve something and, in these current difficult times, anyone who hasn't seen the movie will find it very therapeutic!

The soundtrack is also excellent!
