- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2011This Qui-Gon Jinn lightsaber is a great value.
It's size and appearance seem relatively authentic compared to the movies (I was buying this as a Halloween costume accessory).
Unfortunately, there was nothing to help you clip it onto your belt. I ended up looping some string around the battery compartment door and attaching that to a carabiner, which was pretty effective.
The extending blade that lights up was a bonus for me. There's a little clip that slides over the blade opening to prevent the blade from extending accidentally, which works well. It also slides out of the way easily for quick extension of the blade.
The light for the green plastic blade was pretty weak. You pretty much need to be in a completely dark area for it to be effective. Considering the price, this seemed reasonable to me.
The switch that turns the light on and off had a tendency to slide to the on position accidentally (probably from me knocking it, because there was a decently stiff click between positions), but this was also a pretty minor thing for me.
Overall, I'd say this is great as a costume prop, and pretty good as a general toy, especially for $12.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2024We got this for my son. He was so excited! We put batteries in it and it lit up great. He turned it off and when he went to turn it back on, it didn’t work. We tried different batteries with no luck. We were able to return no problem. But sad we couldn’t figure out what happened.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2019Using this for my bridal bouquet.... saw on pinterest and place they sold them at had them over $80!!! i said "I could make that on my own, far cheaper!!" works perfect!
they don't make them like they did in 1999 when Phantom Menace first came out, THOSE ones you could fight with as kids, this one is so flimsy it would never hold up to kids using them like that
- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2016A decent lightsaber for the cost, though not meant to be dueled with (even moreso than your more expensive lightsaber prop). However, for the sake of showing off the different designs/styles of notable Jedi lightsabers, these are pretty cool to have.
A few things to note about these particular sabers:
1) The handles are much rounder in diameter than an 'actual' lightsaber. In other words, they're kinda fat and cumbersome to grip.
2) The plastic used for the telescoping saber portion is much thinner/cheaper than the typical toy lightsaber. They can still be dueled with so long as you're not hitting too hard, but expect many dents.
3) They take two AAA batteries to make the lightsaber light up (light comes from the handle, so light is not even), though they do not make the satisfying sounds a lightsaber makes when it turns on/off or the unique hum when being swung in the air.
All and all, a great lightsaber for collecting and displaying. Would buy the whole collection to showcase their awesomeness.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2016Lower quality than I expected. My 7 year old son loves star wars, and used his money to buy this lightsaber, labeled here as Qui-Gon Gin's lightsaber. The package just says "jedi lightsaber," so it's not Qui-Gon's.
More importantly, the package says (in super small print) "Not durable enough for battle or other play." That statement is correct. It's made from super flimsy plastic. I won't be surprised if the blade bends in half the first time my son plays with it. There is no sound (which we expected, but was not specifically mentioned in the product listing), and the light is really weak. I can barely see that it's on, in a dark room. Outs not visible at all in a lit room. And the red button on the side of the handle doesn't do anything. It's fixed in place and there's a switch at the bottom to turn the light bulb on and off.
Overall pretty disappointing.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2012The item that came was not the same as the picture, we ended up with some clone wars on the package not Qui Gon Jinn. This came from a costume shop. And it is not a durible toy, but a cheap "costume" light saber. Thin, cheap plastic. Can bend fairly easy. I would make sure I purchase the "more expensive" toy brand light saber for my boys to play with. This one broke the first day, we were able to fix it and can still hear something jiggling around inside.
Oh well, for the cheap price it'll have to do.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 26, 2015my 4 year old loves this. Keep in mind this is a cheap toy for $7 it isn't indestructible. He and his brother have had saber fights and it has taken a beating. dented in a few times but I was able to pop it back out. IT also lights up. I thought it was great for the price. I was looking for a fast buy because they went to a star wars summer camp and had a day to bring light sabers. So for a quick cheap toy it was perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really amazing lightsaber
Well I gotta say it looks really amazing and awesome I got no complaints about it, And also it didn’t break so that’s good to say about it. I gotta say it came early before the due date as a Star Wars fan I totally like it a lot I recommend it and that’s pretty much what I have to say.

4.0 out of 5 stars Muy contenta
