Editorial Reviews

Product Description

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band's previous album, Trouble is..., went platinum, topped Billboard's Blues chart for nearly two years, won 1998 Billboard Music Awards for Rock Track of the Year ("Blue On Black") and Blues Album of the Year, and was Grammy nominated for Best Rock Instrumental Performance. Live On is another milestone of rockin' blues for this phenomenal musician still in his early twenties.

Certified at 500 thousand units by the RIAA. (2/01)

Never mess with a good thing; Kenny Wayne Shepherd certainly hasn't. There's no appreciable stylistic difference between Live On and its predecessors, Trouble Is... and Ledbetter Heights, except that Shepherd's guitar work here sounds more assured. All of the other usual ingredients are present--a full, crunchy guitar sound, a tight rhythm section, mature-sounding vocals from Noah Hunt, and the usual assortment of uptempo rockers and slower, sweeter numbers. If Shepherd seems to be edging closer to the rock side of the blues-rock genre, it's hardly surprising given that's where he's had his greatest success. And if the result doesn't seem to quite transcend genre boundaries, it is, at least, a high-octane, energetic effort. --Genevieve Williams

Took a while to get. The CD is pristine as well as the case. Price was great.

I believe with this purchase that I have all the cds that matter by Kenny Wayne Shepherd. On this cd he gives a great rendition of SHOTGUN BLUES while WAS and EVERYTIME IT RAINS provide Kenny Wayne with solid blues material. Also of great interest are LOSING KIND and LIVE ON, the title track of the cd. I am a devoted fan of this marvellous guitarist and continue to marvel at his musicianship. Of the 6 cds I have purchased from AMAZON, not one has disappointed me and each has its own gems to discover. Buy it and become a fan forever.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd is who I found after Joe Bonamassa. I don't know who came first but I likes 'em both. This is indescribable music. It's guitar, it's blues, it's great songwriting. There really aren't any bad songs on his albums. Even the "Bad" or "throwaways" are 100 times better than most people's best. There comes a time when the crap on the radio actually becomes crap and then you find these guys and your belief in really good music is renewed.

Kenny Wayne Shepard Band plays the most soulful music I have ever heard. I just heard the band in a concert over the weekend and the music resonated though me and touched my soul. Kenny plays with heart and soul. Noah's singing is to say the least heavenly. I like the CD Live on especially the song "Where was I" which they did accustically and was the best song I have heard played that way. Also like the song "Was" that song is also very soulful. I would like to see them live in concert. I know it will be an awsome concert to see. I look forward to hearing moore soulful songs from the Blues playing KWS band soon. I would highley recommend buying this CD if you are into awsome Blues bands.

Kenny and the band are one tight unit on this cd. I saw Kenny Wayne and his band last summer and this guy plays guitar on a level few guitar players ever achieve. Kenny plays with a lot of feeling and emotion and whether he plays fast or slow, he is awesome, and very gifted. I will be going to see him again Buy this cd and rock out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Kenny Wayne Shepherd - He's Got The Rock & The Blues
Reviewed in Australia on July 10, 2021
In no small part, Kenny Wayne Shepherd's "Live On" (as both the musician & the artist) is a sign of his growing confidence in both composing originals, adapting & interpreting covers. From the very first morsel of the overture (the first song) to the finale (last song), I was well assured of an interesting ride with this long-player. Personal Favorites included, "Oh Well", "Was", "Them Changes", "Shotgun Blues", "Never Mind", "You Should Know Better", "Wild Love", "Losing Kind" & "Electric Lullaby".
A most enjoyable long-player from KWS & Co!
