This is another great collection with the legendary Tommy Jarrell as the centerpiece. His congeniality of hosting aspiring musicians on his front porch has carried on the essence of true Appalachian music to this day.

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2008I love Tommy Jarrell's music, both banjo and fiddle. It comes from deep roots, is perfected in way only time, lots of dances and whiskey, and the slow humid mountain air can distill. Get all of his stuff, but picking on the porch and rainbow sign are the most "real" band type playing. Volume 1 is just fiddle, which is great, especially if you are a fiddler. Also, check out Youtube, great footage there.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2018If you like his Vol. 1 you will love Vol. 2.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2021Ok, it was a used CD, but it should be a crime to sell something in this condition. Jewel case cracked/broken throughout. Liner notes booklet could not be opened because of previous water damage. Sound....no comment. Not worth the effort to return it. This is all in criticism of the seller..not the artist.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2014Tommy Jarrell is a legend and all of his discs are "must haves. Amazing music, played by an authentic master.

5.0 out of 5 stars The real thing
Tommy Jarrell's father and uncle were both fiddle players and their historic influence is in every note played. But there was only one Tommy Jarrell and his gentleness, humility and larger than life character also inhabit every track here. The music is centuries old but totally original at the same time. The real thing filtered through Tommy Jarrell's own style. Impossible to keep still whilst this is playing and utterly captivating from the first note to the last.
