This album goes back more than a few years, back to a time when musicianship, songwriting, and melodies were considered a mainstay for success and important in the industry. One of EWT's earliest albums. Am glad I found it again. Received only 4 stars because CD cases are still cracking from insufficient packing. Its small, as shown, but c'mon Amazon shipping guys...put your heads to the sky and fix this issue!!!

    for the true ewf fan from back in the day, we know this is the greatest ewf of all time. their masterpiece head to the sky is without equal compared to their other great great albums. i dare say it is one of the greatest albums bar none! relax, get mellow with a friend and take off on a superlative journey through the clouds and a universe of music you will never forget. every cut on this cd is a hit and pay particular attention to the lyrics. i will not give anything away as to which song is my favorite, you decide, but zanzibar is a bitch! sorry, ha,ha. by the way, the music from the super funky band MANDRILL is on par or above ewf, they are BAD to the bone. check out the cd composite truth or the cd solid. just about anything they played was spellbounding. well time to go, later

    E, W, & F recorded strong performances musically and lyrically on each track. They began their recording career with excellence hinting at the greatness that was to come. The absence of background track information and how the group came together for this recording session is the only fault I find with this reissue. The music makes up for the inner sleeve which boasts "Not just reissued...reimagined.", but offers no information about the group, songwriters, producers, or musicians. Isn't it about the music anyway? The music is the main attraction and this CD delivers.

    Earth Wind and Fire music brings back memories of my best time in College (1974-78). Loved their music then and now and for me its like a time machine transporting back to great times. A lot of people just like their music but for me that's only one aspect as Earth Wind and Fire also dealt with some very deep and profound spiritual principles such as in Head to the Sky, Reasons, and Masquerade for example

    I loved this CD very much! I do not remember the songs but my personal favorite song is "Keep Your Head To The Sky" because when things get tough for me I have to remember that there is a silver lining in every cloud in the sky as well as a rainbow in the sky. I miss Mr. Maurice White so much: he was a brilliant singer/songwriter/composer/arranger even if he was a bit of a "perfectionist". I will "Keep my head to the sky, no matter what happens to me! Thank you, Mr. Maurice White. R.I.P. sir. You may be gone but you are definitely not forgotten.

    Earth,Wind & Fireが1973年にリリースした4thアルバム。本作品からAl McKayとAndrew Woolfolkが加入し黄金期のメンバーが出揃いました。しかし前作から加入した女性ボーカルのJessica Cleaves（アルバムジャケット写真中央の女性）は本作を最後に脱退してしまいました。本作品はアメリカ国内で初めて100万枚を売り上げ商業的な成功（全米第27位）を収めました。内容的には前作のジャズ・ファンク路線からボーカルを全面的に押し出しアフロ（ラテン）のリズムを導入し、より洗練された音作りを試みています。シングルカットされた2曲、カリンバの音が心地良い『Evil』（全米第50位）シタールが響く『Keep Your Head To The Sky』（全米R&Bチャート第25位）およびラストのEdu Loboのカバー曲でフュージョン、ラテン・ロックの大作『Zanzibar』等秀逸な曲が満載です。 4.0chのQuad音源もリア・スピーカーから独立した音源が出力され、音の広がり方、音の分離、各パート楽器がクリアーに聞こえ中々良い出来です。最後になりますが今年2016年2月3日に亡くなられたMaurice White様にご冥福をお祈りします。貴方様のおかげで楽しい青春時代を過ごす事が出来ました。心から感謝しております。
