- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2023This album just makes you want to visit Antarctica! It really immerses you in what it would be like to visit the Great White Continent someday.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2022I LOVE this CD!!! It is easy listening with a lot of electronic synthesizers -- very soothing. I listened to it while going through hundreds of my Antarctica trip photos and videos. Listening to "Antarctica Echoes (remastered)" while remembering my zodiac gliding through the floating ice on Hidden Bay captured the moment perfectly. I'm sorry to learn the composer Vangelis' passing in May of this year -- such a loss of talent -- bus his music lives on. Glad to find this CD on Amazon!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2022Antarctica: Music From Koreyoshi Kurahara's Film has one of the most beautiful themes of anything I have h heard in a movie, and it is noticeable in many of the selections. Not only one of my favorite Vangelis albums, but one of my all-time favorite instrumental albums.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2013This album is COLD ! Vangelis' synthesizer work captures the utter chill and desolation of the continent, complete from crystalline ice to howling wind. I have three copies of this on three different vinyl pressings and never tire of the sonic depths this music contains. The CD never arrived - someone in the USPS system decided they needed it more than I, so all I received was an empty bubble wrap envelope with a "Delivered without contents" stamp from USPS. I bought the CD elsewhere - from a dedicated music outlet online service.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2011I just received this in mail yesterday, & am listening to it right now as I type this, for already the 3rd or 4th time. I'd hear the title song on our classical music station & was swept away by it.
I sure do wish the movie was still available, but it seems not to be according to Amazon. I would love to see what accompanies this beautiful music! Even tho this underlying theme runs throughout most of the score, the many variations & twists that Vangelis puts on it makes it anything but boring. Beautiful, thrilling Music!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2016"Antarctica" may not be as well known as Vangelis' work from the '70s or his soundtracks to "Blade Runner" and "Chariots of Fire", but in my opinion this is his best soundtrack effort. The album varies from upbeat ("Theme from Antarctica") to low-key and reflective ("Antarctica Echoes") to dark and brooding ("Other Side of Antarctica"). If you enjoy any of Vangelis' other albums, this is a great one to get.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2013Ever since I heard of Vangelis, (chariots of fire, to the unknown man, alpha, etc) I've liked his music. His music is skillfully used to describe what he see's. In the case of Antarctica, it is wonderfully and artistically done, you can imagine yourself being there. His music really appeals to your emotions and your mood.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2015Once upon a time, I had a cassette recording of "Antarctica." I played it until it was nearly worn out. The CD is, of course, superior in sound quality. I can't say enough about this wonderful music ! ! !

5.0 out of 5 stars Vangelis . Antartica
Musica Ambient allo stato puro.
Vangelis con le sue melodie ed armonie disegna perfettamente la zona Antartica a sostegno della pellicola giapponese. Un film molto bello e queste musiche danno ancor piu' un tocco a questo capolavoro.

5.0 out of 5 stars Une merveille !
