Gómez Suárez de Figueroa, el mestizo genial que la historia habría de registrar con el nombre del Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, nació en el Cuzco y vivió al amparo de una de las primeras casas señoriales que los españoles allí construyeron. Constituye el símbolo primario del mestizaje y la colonización que se iniciaba entonces en el Nuevo Mundo y el cabo de los siglos ha llegado a ser una de las figuras más admirables y discutidas que han producido la historiografía y las letras americanas. Aparte de un carácter marcadamente autobiográfico, encontramos en los "Comentarios reales" un firme propósito de poner de manifiesto el importante legado cultural que el imperio del Tahuansintuyo acumuló. Relata además la conquista, colonización y guerras civiles que funcionarios y conquistadores llevaron a cabo en aquel incipiente virreinato peruano. Esta edición ofrece una selección de textos de la primera parte de los "Comentarios reales" y de la segunda, hoy conocida como "Historia general del Perú".

    The book arrived on time, but it wasn’t in “good condition” as stated in the description. It looks like a book that has been soaked. The book is wrinkled and the pages stiff, and it is difficult to open it for normal reading. Also, has more highlighting and handwriting than I expected. I’m so disappointed.
