If you read Full Spectrum Dominance: Totalitarian Democracy and the New World Order among other important things that you will learn are:
+ The actual Pentagon strategy, called Full Spectrum Dominance, to insure Washington has supreme military power over any and all potential rivals
+ How the US State Department and CIA use Color Revolutions and charges of human rights abuse to target uncooperative regimes around the world
+ The real background to the Washington missile defense deployment in Poland and beyond after 2007 and how that risks bringing the world to possible nuclear war
+ How Washington-financed NGOs weaponize human rights to destroy their rivals around the world from Ukraine in 2014 to Syria
+ The true agenda of billionaire George Soros and his philanthropic foundations around the world
+ How the US military industrial complex functions to create permanent wars
For the faction that controls the Pentagon, the military industry and the oil industry, the Cold War never ended. It went on 'below the radar' creating a global network of bases and conflicts to advance their long-term goal of Full Spectrum Dominance, the total control of the planet: land, sea, air, space, outer space and cyberspace.
Their methods included control of propaganda, use of NGOs for regime change, Color Revolutions to advance NATO east, and a vast array of psychological and economic warfare techniques, a Revolution in Military Affairs as they termed it.
The events of September 11, 2001 would allow an American President to declare a war on an enemy who was everywhere and nowhere, who justified a Patriot Act that destroyed that very freedom in the name of the new worldwide War on Terror. This book gives a disturbing look at that strategy of Full Spectrum Dominance.

This is a top 3 book on geopolitics.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2016F. William is the best non-fiction writer out there. Crisp clean text from a well organized mind. He has the ability to take complex subjects and crystalize them for the reader. He does all the heavy lifting up front so the reader can just read, the information flows, without effort.
In a perfect world, this would be the subject material of the mainstream media, not the disinformation propoganda that we get from them. The world is becoming excedingly dangerous because of the neocon agenda of divide and conquer that will eventually lead to WWIII.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2013F. William Engdahl is a clear writer on geopolitics and strategic affairs from a perspective outside that of mainstream media or establishment academia. In this volume he tackles the United States' ongoing policy of global hegemony, or is it is called in Pentagon policy papers: Full Spectrum Dominance.
Besides the US outspending all potential competitors and allies combined on defense, the US has been using means other than warfare to exert its power in volatile regions worldwide. If you have read Brzezinski's Grand Chessboard, Engdahl asks the corollary questions about the expansion of US power into Central Asia and he asks what purpose this expedition into the "Graveyard of Empires" might serve.
Aside from outright military intervention other means of US goals being achieved include peaceful revolutions and swarming coups. This book was written in 2009 but serves well to educate the reader into some of the actions of the "Arab Spring" of 2011. One will never be able to think of NGOs as neutral uninterested parties in foreign affairs after examining this book.
Most of all Engdahl examines the contours of US strategic policy since the end of the Cold War where he posits the the Cold War never ended, just went into a new hyper-power phase where the triumphant US has decided to "make a go" at being a global hegemonic power, devoting so much to military supremacy and global dominance that any emerging power wold break their bank attempting to catch up to US military technological supremacy.
This book might be a difficult read for an uniformed layperson, but do yourself a favor and familiarize yourself to these concepts if you want to understand unstated motives in international affairs.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2014This book is a compulsory read for anyone who expresses the sincere desire to know why the world is in the state it currently is. Mr. Engdahl has done his homework exceptionally well and he proved successfully just how effectively the majority of the global citizens have been misled to believe a lie in the name of "democracy" and "human rights".
If you read one book on geopolitics, this should be your choice.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2016Excellent book. It discusses how US foreign policy is based around oil and oil pipelines. Also, to prevent China from getting resources and surrounding Russia to curtail it and threaten it. If United States policy doesn't make sense to you, this book will help you understand it.
It will help you see through the propaganda you hear.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 6, 2014If anyone wants to know how the world got to where it is, this is the book to read. The author writes about what is currently going on in Ukraine, for example. However, this book was written in 2009 which means Ukraine has been targeted by the United States for a long time. That's only the beginning. This book answered a lot of questions for me and the author answered those questions very clearly. Everyone should read this book so they can find out exactly what our country is up to around the world.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2018Brilliant, well-documented piece of work. Very informative, suggesting as citizens of Main Street, we should pay attention to the world around us.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2009Perhaps the documentation could have been better? At times Endghal made a few assertions without documentation to back up arguments. He also implies a tryst in which 60+ yr old Madeleine Albright had with Kosovo's 30 something mobster/prime minister. To me this kind of tabloid stuff should be left with the tabloids.
William Engdhal's book is a synthesis of articles which he has posted on the Global Research website.
Endghal successfully breaks down US geostrategy into managable parts. So we have China scrambling for control of resources in Africa, Russia forming economic Ties with the European Union etc. In Response, terrorism & humanitarian intervention have been used as a pretext for US military intervention in order to place a wedge between alliances which could challenge US hegemon status.
Any means justifies the ends. So we see US foreign policy propping up criminal syndicates in Kosovo & Afghanistan. Proxy wars in Africa and the formation of a Unified Combat command AFRICOM which serves as a device to control China striking deals with African countries for minerals/oil. The "Color Revolutions" which were influenced by front groups such as the National Endowment for Democracy which were controlled by the State Dept/US Gov't/ Wall Street interests..The elections placed US controlled gov't at the doorstep of Russia's borders & extended NATO's reach to control Russian/Eurpoean politics and economic integration.
An interesting read! I highly recommend this book

5.0 out of 5 stars The puppet masters revealed
This book pulls back the curtain on the puppet masters who run the world from behind the scenes. It is sickening to think that a small cabal of egocentric power-mad lunatics with unlimited wealth determine the future for the rest of us. They control who gets elected at the highest levels through their unlimited financial backing. They start wars for their own financial benefit. They exploit the sheeple at every opportunity to achieve their insane goals. They lie, cheat and steal with alacrity and impunity because they control the press, the courts and the regulators. They surreptitiously kill anyone who gets in their way. 1984 here we come! Most of us are so naive we don't believe the evidence even when it is staring us in the face daily.
