- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2019I don't even know where to start with this review, Tijan has done it again! Enemies is a remarkable story that once you start, it hard to put down. It's emotional, angsty, and packs so many punches that you're left with one heck of a book hang over it's not even funny! Dusty is looking to start over, new college, new life, and trying to forget her past. She wants to break free, but she can't seem to escape the one person who she despises, Stone Reeves. She knew moving to the town she did to go to school she would have to deal with him since he plays football there, but she never thought she would have to see him again, nor would he become such an impactful person in her life. What starts off as hateful texts and calls to get her step mother to stop bothering his parents, becomes so much more when more tragedy strikes Dusty again, and Stone is there to help her through it. These "enemies" become something more, not quite lovers, not quite friends, but Dusty needs Stone and Stone may not be the bad guy that she thought he was. I loved the back and forth between these two, and trying to figure out all that went down between them. As we slowly got to piece together their past, and their present it was amazing to see their story unfold, and it was sad to see everything that Dusty had gone through and goes through in this book. These two are meant to be together, but there is so much they have to work through both individually and together before anything will truly stick for them.I truly loved watching Dusty grow throughout this book from the girl who was very quiet and stuck to herself and seemed afraid of her own shadow, to the strong woman she was at the end of this story. Her strength is admirable, and I truly loved her character. Her ability to fight back with her roommates, her friends, and especially Stone was amazing and it made me love her even more. I also adored Stone, even when I wanted to hate him, and trust me, I wanted to hate him on multiple occasions in this book, but I just couldn't.Stone and Dusty's story is stunning and I loved every minute of it. I just wish it wouldn't have ended! If you're a lover of enemies to lovers romances, then I highly recommend picking up Enemies by Tijan today! Trust me, this is a book you need to read!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2025Stone and Dusty.
I’m glad I read this book. I was not really sure what to expect and this was surprisingly very captivating. I was intrigued by Dusty’s story and wanted to know more about her and what her life had been like. The writing was interesting and engaging. I loved how gritty the story was from Dusty’s perspective. She was struggling and her life was basically a mess. I loved how much fire she had when interacting with Stone. How fierce and passionate she was. The trauma was real in this book and it made me wish for a happy ending for her.
This would’ve been a 5 star but it felt like Stone and Dusty didn’t *really* work through all the dislike between them and what happened all those years ago. Even in Stone’s POV he mentions needing to “show” her he cares but I don’t feel like he really did a good job or it. The ending honestly felt rushed and like they magically got over everything and were suddenly together.
All in all, I enjoyed it enough to finish the book with 24 hours and I had to know what happened so overall a good read!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2023This is probably one of my most common rereads for me. It always hits me in the feels. I really love a good enemies to lovers book, but this is kind of more than that since Dusty is so wrapped in tragedy. The angst between these two really makes this book so much better.
Honestly, this book is heavy in a lot of parts, there is a lot of death involved in Dusty’s life and if that isn’t bad enough she also dealt with an ex who not only was a stalker but hurt her in every way possible. She’s trying to hard to start her life over somewhere else, to heal really. But she never really is able to find herself on solid ground. With car accidents, a coma, and a roommate situation that is tenuous at best.
When Stone comes back into her life they have a lot of animosity between each other, and the back and forth between them is a little rough. But when Dusty’s life implodes he is there for her, and honestly he’s really her only option. I really like the development of their relationship, because its clear with so much history between them that there is an underlying caring between them, but at the same they both seem to have a lot of animosity as well as secrets the other one didn’t know.
There are some pretty decently steamy scenes between the two of them, but honestly it’s the heartstrings that this book pulls on that makes it one of my favorite rereads.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still suffering on a book-hangover...
I can't find the right words for this book.
You have to read it!
Dusty is such a strong heroine! I really don't know if I could stay that strong! I just wanted to take her in my arms and keep telling her, that everything will be ok.
Entrance: Stone. He is the one who will make it for me.
Stone, yeah, he is my new book-boyfriend.
Sometimes I wished I could see in his head! 😅 But it's the heroines POV and you definitely see him speaking through his actions. Dusty is important to him.
I love the push and pull between them, their interactions and their memories.
I highly recommend this book to you.
(Enemies is the first book I read by Tijan and it will not be my last one.)

5.0 out of 5 stars She did it again !
Some authors write light reads that you use simply to distract yourself, some write books where you spend most of your time either smiling or laughing and others write book that grab you in the gut and mess you up. Tijan writes the latter. And she is amazing at it. All of her heroines have one thing in common, hardship, and Dusty was no slouch in the matter. She went through a lot and watching process it in her own way at her own pace was amazing. So thank again Tijan for amazing ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 star emotional read
This is probably my favourite book by tijan, its one I always go back and reread and irs one I think I pretty much take with me evrytime on holiday lol!
Enemies is an emotional rollercoaster about family, friendship, love, surviving trauma and heartache & how resilience the body and mind can be. Tijan puts your heart through the ringer that's for sure. My heart broke for Dusty, like I just wanted to scoop her up and keep her safe but my god she was so strong.
I was in awe of her. Her resilience and motivation to keep her head up and keep going no matter what mixed in with that unnerving vulnerability made her one of my all time favorite heroines ever written. I related alot with her. She is one of the best girls in NA that I have read about in a long time. She had been through hell and back and was still experiencing it and I really appreciated how Tijan showed us her refusing to acknowledge what has happened and wanting to pretend because let's be honest we all do that. Its in our human nature to pretend and act like everything is OK because we don't want to experience pain.
Now Stone...can we just *sigh*...love LOVE HIM. What a guy. I feel like because we didn't get to hear much from his POV until end he was a bit of mystery building up but did I screech with joy when we got to see what was in his head? You bet! Im so eternally grateful we got to see some chapters in his POV because they were everything & really provided an additional depth to the story.
5 star read!
