Product Description

90 min. Jon Terrell Carson loves to worship God, but his way of showing it is a bit unconventional which creates conflict in his church to the point where the members of the congregation petition and have him removed from the church. Jon's Bishop sends him to a new church that better fits his style of worship and the new congregation loves Jon, but there are some unresolved issues at his new church home that cause new problems for Jon. A Man Called Jon is an endearing, light-hearted dramedy, with a fun, yet powerful message of unconditional love and acceptance that will have you reexamining how you look at others and what is truly considered normal.

Having been in denominational churches and then being led to a Charasmatic fivefold church without the stiff, religious structure of a denominational church setting we can fully appreciate the plot. Especially a plot that excludes violence, racisim, murder, cursing and the lot. This movie embraced conflict resolution, family ties, and anticipating the unknown of a new environment. It had diversity in the church. There is no such thing as a black church or a white church. It is God's church in His Kingdom. God judges by the heart not one's color. Culture does not rule in God's Kingdom but His Word does by His Spirit. The characters in the movie made tough decisions regardless of family ties and chose not to show favoritism based on family or race but instead based on what was right in the eyes of God. The married couples in this movie were devoted and extremely supportive of each other. Handling things God's way in this film was important and a great example of how people should live with one another. For example, asking for forgiveness, putting personal agendas aside and choosing to exalt God and family. Helping one another and following through. Another point, entering into a racial imbalance that is opposite to the one that you have been accustomed to and willing to make the right adjustments with a good attitude and heart. All in all, a true Christian Believer will enjoy watching this movie which has no violence, inapproriate language, but has humor, love and a desire to do things God's way.

The beg is slow but once you get through the first few scenes you see the beauty in embracing the anointing that's put in you. Everyone was given a level of faith and true faith is in not quenching the Spirit. The main character Jon was surrounded by many who tried to get him to quench the Spirit. But scripture was truly manifested in the turn out of Jon's fate. The WORD says if you draw close to the LORD He'll draw close to you and Jon persevered after every testing of his faith and the LORD led him to people who accepted him and helped flourish the Spirit. There's always a message to every faith based movie you just have to be willing to let the movies minister to you. The moral of the story praise the LORD like nobody's watching Don't quench the Spirit and never let anyone make you feel bad for your level of faith, praise, and worship.

What an enjoyable movie - and was not what I initially expected after the advertisements shown from television in the past. The opening scene was the one thing I didn't care for but it was important to make the case for the rest of the movie as it played out. This was a great example of church politics - and there are a lot of them going on regardless of the denomination. It was difficult seeing the struggles the kids went though as PK kids who are always on the move and knowing that's often part of the life of pastors as well as missionaries. While I'm not Protestant anymore it made me miss the days when I was and the good old Gospel celebrations which was not so stuffy in worshipping God. Really liked the movie.

A married (white) pastor with supportive wife and two non-bratty kids has a problem: ever since he saw a preacher filled with the Holy Spirit dance for sheer joy when he was a kid, he has fought the urge to do so in his more conservative churches. But it keeps coming out and eventually the church releases him to a new assignment, a mistaken position in a primarily black church. There is finds a lot of really nice people and also a bit of friction.

In this time of such turmoil, it is refreshing to see people joyfully accept one another and work out differences. Families, black and white, are shown living decent, caring lives with a splash of humor thrown in.

Just a nice film that makes on try harder to act like the characters in the film and appreciate decent people of all colors and social standings in real life. As is said in the Jewish faith, "Life is with people!"

A family finds their niche in life.

Well...a good, clean family movie. The situations/scenarios could have been better scripted to reflect reality. The ending should have focused on Jon speaking/preaching to the congregation and giving a testimony of his calling and being accepted, along with him shouting. The end of the movie seemed to skip from Jon being accepted on to the membership growth of the church. The growth of the church was not the focus. As the title states, the movie's focus was on a man called Jon. The paper mix-ups and mix-ups on pastor assignments were a little over the top. Overall was a good message.

This was a really good movie - in real life, I don't think the uncle should have been reinstated as a pastor at all. Also, while the movie was really great - it does point out we really need to run a church by the spirit of God. How can saints filled with God's spirit remotely think its right to drench a new pastor with cold water all in the name of Ice Bucket Challenge. Something in your spirit should say that is not God. But a really really good movie.
