President Russell M. Nelson, the seventeenth President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is sustained by millions around the world as a Prophet of God. But he is a Mormon Prophet with a difference. Prior to his historic 1984 call as an LDS Apostle President Nelson was already world-renowned as a surgeon. His pioneering work in the field of open-heart surgery beginning in the 1950’s has blessed the lives of millions around the world. This book of personal reminiscences, written by former secretary to the First Presidency and prolific Mormon biographer Francis M. Gibbons, gives significant new insight into President Nelson’s early life in Salt Lake City, his family, his baptism at age sixteen, his education, his first callings in the Church, and his ultimate call to high Church leadership positions. Brother Gibbons draws upon more than sixty years of close association with President Nelson to provide unique stories, anecdotes and insights about the Prophet. This book will surely find a place among the most important documents about the remarkable life and ministry of President Russell M. Nelson.Full of inspiration and insight, this book is the eighth and final part of Brother Gibbons's eight-volume work entitled Remembering the Prophets of God.

This was one of the most interesting books about a Prophet of God I have ever read. I would venture a guess that the large majority of members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have little or no knowledge of the greatness of our new Prophet and President of the Church. The Lord granted another great man , Francis Gibbons, to know him like no other to share that unique knowledge and those experiences with the world. God bless Brother Gibbons, with the able assistance of his son Daniel, for this marvelous insight into the life and character of President Russell M. Nelson!

Getting better acquainted with President Nelson is an uplifting journey. The more I learn, the more I feel the need to improve myself. Sometimes when I study a gifted person, I feel discouraged because I know that to reach that far is impossible. Not so with President Nelson. He makes me feel that my daily striving and improving is enough. I recommend this book to all readers.

The quality of men that the Lord has given the opportunity to serve his children and to guide us is completely evident in President Nelson. How blessed we are to have him.

This is a great short biography of President Russell M. Nelson. It gives a good amount of information in what I thought wasn't that long a book.
