About the author

Jules Verne (1828-1905) was a French author best known for his tales of adventure, including Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Around the World in Eighty Days. A true visionary, Verne foresaw the skyscraper, the submarine, and the airplane, among many other inventions, and is now regarded as one of the fathers of science fiction.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2023This book with all the interesting facts about the ocean and its sea life kept me at my phone (on the internet) constantly. I followed the Nautilus's path, and often looked up what the sea life was, along with the suboceanic geology so accurate as known in the 19th century. The characters were brilliantly brought to life. There's an enormous amount of facts and adventures to enjoy. I'll move on to the next Verne classic now.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2023This is my all time favorite from my youth love the movie and I hear the book is even better

- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2025Honestly the intro makes it sound action packed, but it's a little underwhelming. Very interesting though. I did enjoy it for the most part.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2018I got this book to donate to a lending library and although I like many of Verne's works, I chose this as the book of his to donate because it is the first of his works that I read.
What I really liked about this version is that it is complete and unabridged. An important factor when choosing a new edition of a classic.
The font could be larger, but that might not matter to the people who will actually read the book.
