The Light Beyond: The extraordinary sequel to the classic Life After Life Paperback – January 1, 2005
Purchase options and add-ons
'The Light Beyond' is based on more than a thousand case studies of adults and children who clinically reached the point of death and survived, as well as amazing new research. It shows the many striking similarities shared by all near-death experiences (NDEs), and uncovers secrets and opens the doors to a powerful message of love from the frontier between life and death.
Raymond Moody's research throws new light on the following topics:
--how recent findings in medicine, psychiatry and sociology bring us closer to unravelling mankind's greatest mystery: what happens to us after we die?
--Startling, newly confirmed phenomena such as: the experience of meeting one's loved ones in the afterlife and the ability to 'tap into' knowledge of any sort
--What the moving near-death experiences of children can teach us
--Why NDE's inspire permanent change, greater appreciation of life, more concern for others, increased belief in an afterlife, and decreased fear of death
--Why doctors want more research into near-death experiences-and much more
Based on Dr Moody's groundbreaking studies, 'The Light Beyond' offers both answers and peace of mind to anyone who has ever wondered about death and beyond.

"NDEs are spiritual events of staggering magnitude and complexity that have the power to change our attitudes toward death and life" says director Paul Perry. "There are reasons people are transformed when they return from a brush with death, one of which is the confidence they gain in knowing that a fresh new world awaits our last heartbeat. Another, especially for the physically ill, is the discovery that we leave our body behind and continue on as spirits free of earthy pain."

- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2011I read Dr. Raymond Moody's "Life After Life" as a student at Eckerd College in 1994. In fact back then I was writing my graduation paper about Near Death Experiences - because at the same time I was losing my husband to cancer and wanted to know where he may be going. My college agreed to let that unusual subject be my graduating thesis. My husband passed in late 1994, I graduated in early 1995 and I was walking on clouds when I did. My mood was elevated in part, thanks to Moody's book "Life After Life" written in conjunction with Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. Thanks to his book, I was very confident my husband was fine and this allowed me to not live in guilt and attend to life on earth. I return to Moody's writings whenever I feel down, (which is not often) because they are so inspiring and uplifting. Works to elate me and get me back on track every time.
So, Dr. Raymond Moody's "Life After Life" is a really important book, took a lot of weight off my shoulders as a young widow with three young kids - and "Life After Life" should be digested before this one, "The Light Beyond" if you are really wanting to know about NDEs. "The Light Beyond," I just read, has new experiences and a lot more quality data to throw at the critics of NDE who most likely multiplied exponentially after Moody's first few challenging books on what happens after we expire here on earth. I totally enjoyed "The Light Beyond" and plan to read it a few times.
Dr. Raymond Moody was the expert in 1994 and he still is. Dr. Moody has always had the best data by far, many - people who were dead a very long time (which is paramount to avoid the hallucination pushers) and more importantly access in his profession to those who would be most likely to have a near death experience. Dr. Moody's writing is very relaxed, and you would never know he was a Doctor. He never uses his power as an author to force a reader to think a certain way. In some respects you can say he is "just the messenger." He is a great messenger.
I feel Dr. Raymond Moody offers more near death experience stories within his works than any other author by far. I recently also read "The Big Book of Near Death Experiences" which was a huge let down after reading anything written by Moody. There is just no comparison. Dr. Raymond Moody is the best in relaying near death experiences and had a lot more of them to offer than any book I have read so far.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2024Moody is likely the most recognized name on the subject next to John Burke, although I always recommend John Burke first and foremost.
Moody is still a top dog in the NDE community who has inspired many authorities on the subject.
Even if you don’t buy this book, you’ll likely always remember his name. He was truly a ground breaker on the subject.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2016When pure in motive and resonant with the greater truths circumventing fear, superstition, vested interests, inherent resistance and conventional boundaries.
Thereby deriving a greater more comprehensive understanding of the linear, beyond and whole of creation.
For the Diversity of Truth when experience in its entirety and highest expression is like the combined facets of a diamond ...its elating brilliance transcending all before,
richly refreshing, articulately wise and inherently kind. Gently falling upon parched earthen mind to permeate, cleanse then refine.
Life after Life based on personal and thousands of documented case studies (i.e. oberf.org):
Evidence: Those experiencing an“Out-of-body” often see/report things they couldn’t possibly have seen/known ...including the blind.
Very young unaculterated children have same experiences as adults.
Core experiences independent of country/cultural or pre-religious beliefs.
Contrary to claimed as stress induced, often situationally non-threatening spontaneous events.
“The Unified Field”: Before returning earthbound “Near-Deaths” are often met by loves ones and animals experiencing surroundings of luminous/radiant harmony and great beauty.
Any questions/concerns are satisfactory answered telepathically, then consciously deleted for future learning purposes.
A detailed review is made of ones life during a wonderful restful period prior to corrective co-strategy...including race, gender, planet etc. for next incarnation.
For teaching progressive/evolvement purposes unless prior reconciled, abuses inflicted are likewise experienced.
“Ye shall do even greater things” – Jesus: Through persistent effort, varied life situations and resulting acquired wisdom,
eventually an ultimate magnificently blissful eternal multi-dimensional state of incredible opportunities and abilities is achieved.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2013I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I recently became interested in the afterlife when I read an article on white feathers. It intrigued my curiosity. This is the first book I have read on NDE besides the accounts I have read on the internet.
I read this book in a day - I found it that interesting.
Moody brings across his research in an easy read and his stories of NDEers are fascinating.
No one can really say for sure whether this is real or the mind playing tricks but Moody's argument on the critics is compelling and I would like to believe it to be true.
I always did think that love and compassion is really all in comes down to in the bigger scheme of things not how much your devote to "quiet time" with the bible or how many Sundays you are in church attendance.
I believe in GOD - I must admit that I have on more than a few times doubted my faith - especially when I hear of tragedies that involve children. It is comforting to know that they would have experienced this and are happy where they are.

5.0 out of 5 stars sehr interessant

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent read
One of the best texts I have read on the subject. Honest and objective as you would expect from a scientific approach. A good one for the nay sayers.
