- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2023I picked this up by accident, being very interested in cooking and minority interested in the royal family - and found an absolute gem. Along with a fascinating disco on when, where and why certain recipe got added to the royal meny, the recipes themes and the community th here upon made for a fast read.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2020Have an English background and some of the recipes and foods I grew up with.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2013I found this to be a rather dated and not-so-easy recipes. An exotic buy, but an interesting book to examine.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2020I enjoyed this. Tidbits of information interspersed between lots of recipes. Very fun!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2016So insightful! French food seems popular at dinner in an English palace. A nice picture into life an an English monarch. Breakfast at 9. Elevenses at eleven. Luncheon at 1. Tea at 4:30.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2018Lovely book!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 22, 2009For British Royal watchers. The Buckingham Palace cooks pay absolutely no attention to the perils of cholesterol when serving up.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2021Kindle version has menus only in French. Though interesting, I can’t read/understand the menus as they are only given in French and the menus were my main interest in this book. Maybe this is only in the kindle version because it seems odd to me to write a book in English and not at least offer english translations of the French menus. The kindle translator doesn’t help as it either gets the words wrong (unless fish really is served with gasoline) or doesn’t translate at all and just repeats the French words. Greatly disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Book for Foodies
Fascinating Book for Foodies - really interesting how tastes have changed especially when Elizabeth took the throne - I also like the bit about operas and Edward 7th. Good read.

1.0 out of 5 stars this book is not worth the 1 cent I paid ...
this book is not worth the 1 cent I paid. it must have been written before the invention of the typewriter was invented. that's how old and outdated it is. No pictures... just pen and ink drawings.
