“Andrew Lang and his associates managed to break the stranglehold of the pious sentimentality handed out to children by collecting—from all over the world—fairy tales of all people, and bringing out the volumes we all know and love.”—Kirkus Reviews

The first installment of Andrew Lang's widely read classics and arguably his best known,
The Blue Fairy Book has been admired time and time again, enchanting readers with its carefully crafted prose and eclectic assortment of fairy tales. Originally published in 1889, this collection of celebrated tales has stood the test of time. Some of the famous stories included are:
  • Sleeping Beauty
  • Rumpelstiltzkin
  • Beauty and the Beast
  • Hansel and Gretel
  • Puss in Boots
  • Goldilocks
  • And many more!

This beautiful edition comes complete with the original illustrations by Golden Age Illustrator Henry J. Ford and is the perfect gift to pass on these timeless classics to the next generation of readers and dreamers.

The imaginations of children throughout time have been formed and nurtured by stories passed down from generation to generation. Of the countless genres of stories, fairy tales often conjure the most vivid fantastical worlds and ideas, which cultivate creativity and bring elements of magic back into the real world. Many of these fairy tales have been collected over time into hundreds of memorable collections. However, the ones commonly considered most notable are the Fairy Books compiled by famous Scottish novelist and poet Andrew Lang.

Big thanks to the Publisher!
I was losing hope on ever finding beautiful, hardcover copies of the fairy books since not a lot of publishers printed them. Folio society had them for a while but the books are now out of print so third party sellers are selling them for a HUGE profit. I could barely contain my excitement when I saw these affordable and UNABRIDGED editions from Racehorse Publishing which is under Simon and Schuster. I purchased the Blue and Red Fairy books and found out that the Green and Yellow books are going to be released on November! I hope that they would publish the remaining 8 of the fairy books so I could complete all 12 of them. Overall, amazing value! I’m very satisfied.

My 8 year old loves this. I like the classic versions of the stories. These are not watered down fairy tales, so make sure your child is mature enough to handle. For my kiddos (a bit sensitive, they don’t see much tv), I think around 7-9 is great age. I enjoy them as an adult.

I bought this book for Valentine's Day for my six-month-old goddaughter. Starting her off right! It's a beautiful hardcover book with quality paper and lovely illustrations. I plan to buy the series and give her a different color fairy book for each special occasion. I also bought the Kindle version for myself. You're never too old for a good fairy tale.

I have a copy of this volume that I inherited from my father (early 1900s) and one of my granddaughters fell in love with it. Since she's half of a pair of twins, I needed two copies (one for each twin lest one feel slighted) and this one is really lovely.

This is a beautiful and COMPLETE copy of Blue Fairy (unlike the stunning yet incomplete Barnes & Noble edition). However, I have one small and petty gripe that nevertheless irks me: why was this series designed with yellow binding?! It would have been much more appealing if the bindings of the books matched the color of the corresponding fairy book (for example blue for Blue Fairy). This would have looked much nicer on my bookshelf with its other counterparts.

    Nope! Returned.

As you can see from my three photo uploads, the front cover image is blurry as compared to the title.
The table of contents has no page numbering and the formatting has the title for the first chapter listed at the very bottom of the table of contents.
There aren't any page breaks between chapters as you can see from photo 3, where there's just a few hard returns, a line listing the new chapters title and a couple more returns before beginning that chapter.
    No bold font. No italics.

    Skip it.

Do not buy. I bought for the gorgeous cover art work and was hoping more beautiful pics would be inside... NOPE. The cover artwork itself is all pixelated and stretched like the image was stolen from google images and expanded way too big (super unprofessional in my opinion!!) and the text on the inside (with no extra pictures of any kind) looks like a printed manuscript off for editing and review, not like a finished copy of a book you would sell. Very disappointed and totally returning this shady a** copy of this cool volume of stories :(
