The heavens declare the glory of God . . . but are we listening? Yes, God created this world, but sometimes we forget that he hasn’t left―that his redemptive, creative work happens still today, right here under our feet. So when we seek for God and study his truth, how much are we missing if we don’t awaken to all he has placed in the soil and sky?
God made this world of light and darkness, summer and winter, life and death. What does he intend to teach us in these ever-repeating cycles and seasons? Seamlessly weaving biblical truths into everyday life, Catherine McNiel will help you discover an unbelievable reality: God meets and transforms you in the mess and abundance of every mundane moment.

Editorial Reviews
Review
This book has done more than teach me: It has nourished me. All Shall Be Well, rich in imagery, theological depth, and soulful introspection, is exactly the kind of book I like to read and recommend. McNiel grapples insightfully with the paradoxes of being human and loving this beautiful, broken world. I want more and more people to read her valuable work. Jen Pollock Michel, author of Surprised by Paradox
All Shall Be Well beautifully and poetically reveals the seasons of life. From the dead of winter to the promise of spring, Catherine McNiel teaches us that our God is present and listening, calling and leading no matter what our circumstances are. She reminds us that our faith is a journey of spiritual formation, a character-shaping relationship with the Creator God. Nature calls; read this book. Caleb Kaltenbach, author of Messy Grace and God of Tomorrow
With her trademark insight and beautiful writing style, Catherine McNiel leads readers like she’s our personal spiritual director. She invites us to wonder at God’s mysterious presence, while continually pointing her readers to God’s renewal of all things―to the spring in our winters. If you’re longing to connect deeply with God and with his messy, abundant creation, you will find those longings expressed―and met―in these pages. Aubrey Sampson, author of The Louder Song and Overcomer
“Our God is not far off. From the very beginning, Christians have declared that the Creator is not only transcendent but immanent.” With these words, Catherine McNiel plants the foundation for an ingrained display of God’s beauty and goodness among us. While we often wonder where he is amidst the thorns and weeds, All Shall Be Well reminds us that God is still here, tending his garden . . . for us. Alan Noble, award-winning author of Disruptive Witness
If you enjoy Barbara Brown Taylor, you’ll love Catherine McNiel. She awakens us to the cathedral of the everyday, the altar that calls us to worship. Tricia Lott Williford, author of You Can Do This and Just. You. Wait.
I want to write like Catherine McNiel when I grow up! With rich insight and delicious turn of phrase, this book gently replants the reader’s soul in the seasons. This is a truly helpful work for those of us who don’t know what to do with our anxiety, restlessness, and creative yearnings. McNiel gives us the ground from which to say, “All shall be well,” regardless of the season of soul in which we currently reside. Casey Tygrett, author of As I Recall and Becoming Curious; host of the otherWISE podcast
Grounding, lyrical, and rich with meditation and metaphors, McNiel turns our eyes to the wonders of God all around us and invites us to cultivate simple practices of awareness. Ed Cyzewski, author of Flee, Be Silent, Pray
With vibrant and poetic words that touch all the senses, Catherine invites us into an intimate connection with our creator, no matter the season in which we find ourselves―even the dark days of winter. Then, not wanting to leave us without practical tips, she provides simple yet profound disciplines to cultivate life in the Kingdom now. This is a book I’ll return to again and again. Kellye Fabian, author of Sacred Questions
I am the weary traveler McNiel is writing to, and her book is such a tender invitation to trust, to rest, and to embrace whatever season I find myself in. Through prose saturated with kindness and clarity, she provides a much-needed reminder that the life I’m seeking is not found in the busyness, or the chaos, or the things that overwhelm me, but in the beauty of nature and the goodness of God. The “Cultivating” sections at the end of each chapter provide practical steps that feel less like a to-do list and more like mile-markers on a path to the divine. Shawn Smucker, author of Once We Were Strangers and Light from Distant Stars
Catherine McNiel’s prose is, itself, further evidence of the abounding beauty of a world touched by God’s presence. All Shall Be Well will open your eyes to the lush and lively wonder of his redemption in every season and every situation. Jason Hague, author of Aching Joy
Catherine’s writing is more than beautiful. It is transcendent. Seen through her eyes, the everydayness of living bursts forth with abundance, spiritual meaning, and God himself. Catherine is a wise soul, and her readers will enjoy this journey with her through the spiritual seasons of life. I greatly appreciate and highly recommend this book. Valerie Bell, CEO of Awana

- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2019As a church librarian for almost 25 years I've read a lot of books. Some have been classics, many have been good, and a few are not worth the paper they have been printed on. I can't remember every book I've read but I will remember this one. Catherine McNiel has a God-given gift for using words. Her words paint pictures, they hit me with conviction, they are simple but profound and above all, they are worth savoring.
To everything there is a season. Everything goes through seasons. Our gardens, our faith, our lives, and indeed, all of God’s creation are part of a cycle of life and decay. Catherine invites us to focus in on the everyday mess of life to find evidence of God’s grand plan of creation and redemption. A spring thaw brings hope, summer’s growth brings abundance, autumn’s harvest cultivates gratitude, and winter’s dormancy brings dependence. Delightful word pictures such as, “Watermelons, peaches, and ice cream cones drip with sweet nectar, rolling down our chins and arms, creating sticky hands and hair,” fill this book and the temptation to underline is great. Catherine concludes each short chapter with several practical steps to integrate these lessons into our own lives. A discussion guide is included at the end for small groups or individual study. This is already in our church library and checked out I might add, and I'm purchasing some for gifts.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2019I picked up this book expecting that it would be a pleasant little read. I certainly did NOT expect to end up thinking about nature, God, and my faith in completely new ways, yet that is what happened!
Catherine McNiel has a unique and beautiful perspective on how God is evident in nature and how nature reflects our faith. She shares that here through anecdotes about family, familiar stories from the Bible, and solitary experiences with God. In every chapter, there was at least one section or gem of wisdom that made me think, "I've never considered that before!"
She discusses the juxtaposition of death and life, suffering and beauty both in nature and in God's plan for the world and His plan for each individual. This is not a book to read quickly or dismissively or with an expectation that you already know what will be said. This is a book to savor, to digest slowly and thoughtfully, and to approach with the expectation that you will finish with a better knowledge and understanding of God.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2019I deeply appreciate Catherine’s books. This new book invites us to reflect on the beauty of God in each season of the year and each season of our hearts.
I especially resonated with the chapters about autumn - the surrender, the release, the acceptance.
I love the artistry of Catherine’s language. Her beautiful descriptions aren’t flowery or eye-roll inducing. And she is also a theologian, helping us understand the true nature of God. But it’s almost sneaky. Most theology books are boring, academic, and condescending. All Shall Be Well caused me to say, “wait. yes. I actually already know that about God. I remember. I’ve seen that. I’ve lived that. I didn’t realize I was getting to know *God* in that season.” That takes the head-knowledge of theology and builds a bridge to the heart.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2019Very thought provoking. Catherine causes you to pause, breathe, and experience God’s presence right where you are. A wonderful reminder that God is near.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2019This is the perfect book to read when life feels overwhelming. I love the way the author organized the book into the four seasons. Each section is a walk through that season; a gentle reminder of what that season feels like and what purpose it serves. Collectively, the tour through the four seasons, helped me to remember the value of each season. So often in the world we feel rushed, eternally pushed forward, and unable to step back; this book offers the opposite experience. It is an invitation to breathe, to stand back and see the beauty and meaning in in all that surrounds us. This book is a beautiful gift of perspective and peace. And all of us can use a little more of that!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2019This beautiful book is divided up into four sections: Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Within each season, there are three chapters, each one highlighting an earthly, created wonder and then using metaphor to help the reader understand his relationship with the Creator of those wonders even better. For example, in Summer, a chapter titled Abundance is all about the vibrance, richness, and fullness of life and growth that happens in creation, but it also happens as we live out our purpose as created beings.
I’ve been so moved by how Catherine addresses the huge paradoxes of life. Hope can’t exist without despair, life without death, abundance without mess, rest without work, flower without thorn. All this tension is uncomfortable; but the mystery, if I let it, gives way to dynamic and living relationship with my Creator. The prayer of Examen she introduced in Chapter 3: Beauty, has been a fruitful tool to help me remember God’s intimate presence—to behold Him in my beautiful and painful, my order and my chaos. It has become a foundation or grounding path that I keep coming back to. I’ve been ushered into wonder and worship, awe and adoration. Thank you, Catherine, for stewarding your grace-gifts so well, to enable you to grace us with the gift of these words.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 13, 2019This book uniquely brings to life the beauty of God's love and his eternal longing to join us in the middle of the everyday hustle and bustle of life. After reading it, I feel more aware and connected to God in my environment in ways I had never thought of before. Reading this book feels like I'm having coffee with a friend, laughing at the little family moments that drive us crazy, realizing how to appreciate the season of life we're in, and contemplating the mysteries of what God has planned next. Truly a captivating read.

I just finished this book and really liked it. She writes simply and is easy to understand. I like the connection between the first garden and our Creator and the garden and seasons of our lives. It reminded me that God is there through every season, teaching and transforming us yet always with us. He’s there in abundance and He’s there in darkness, He’s there through the cycles of every season of life. Winter will always be made alive by spring.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Beautiful
Simply beautiful. A journey through the seasons—the literal ones and the ones we pass through in this thing called life—that gently takes opens the window on ordinary days made extraordinary when viewed through the lens of faith. Catherine McNiel writes with the words of a poet
