- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2013Clean Eating is not just a recipe book. It’s a guide for how to enjoy natural, unprocessed (preferably organic) foods that are not only good for you but they taste good. It’s about becoming more fit by understanding the essentials of how to make the best choices for your body to become healthier. The principle of this book is that food is the key to good health. It means, basically, eating complex carbs, lean proteins and good fats in correct ratios in six to ten servings daily. I found that my husband and I eat a majority of clean foods, but I’ve discovered from the book that there are foods we must “ditch,” such as whole wheat, which can cause any number of health problems. We also need to cut way back on hard cheeses and rice, which we eat a lot of as vegetarians. The list of 50 Super Foods is handy to have and I also like the idea of eating 5-6 small meals a day to keep the metabolism from slowing down. The book also includes a 2-week eating plan for non-vegetarians with weekly shopping lists and a section on preparation techniques for retaining the food value as you cook. I especially enjoyed the descriptions of common herbs, what they’re good for and when to use them, and the comprehensive guide to eating whole grains. I found some great vegetarian recipes to try such as Buckwheat Crepes with Strawberries, Baked Stuffed Tomatoes and Pumpkin Protein Bars. There’s also a handy glossary at the back of the book. Although the book was not written for vegetarians, the concept is very clear and can be followed and applied by anyone. Definitely a keeper and I will certainly refer to it again and again.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2013I liked this book A lot! It taught me a thing or two about healthy eating and not just recipes, which I was not expecting. I enjoyed the explanations it gave about conventional foods v. organically grown foods. Most cookbooks simply shove recipes down your throat, but not this one. It contained information on a variety of interesting, popular, helpful topics. It was one of the most informative cook books I have ever read. The recipes were also very easy to follow, and I like how they contained only good, nutritional foods. It contained a lot of information such as healthy fats, healthy eating suggestions, and even which foods we should eat as opposed to others. I like how the book was not really a diet book or a gardening book, but just a good book. This was definitely a great find, and it will definitely be recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2013The Clean Eating Cookbook and Diet is a straightforward and accessible introduction to the principles and practices behind a Clean Eating lifestyle. Though it uses the word “diet” in the title, the book advocates a lifestyle choice, with flexibility, rather than a rigid short-term diet. After putting forward the main tenants, the book lays out a plan to start you on your way with a two-week meal plan and plenty of recipes to pique your interest and charm your taste buds. Perhaps one of the most useful features of the book are the labels associated with each recipe indicating seasonal ingredients, high protein, low fat or the inclusion of super foods, among other things. Each recipe is also given a succinct introduction with specific advantages or points of interest on the featured ingredients. While the book as a whole is a valuable addition to your collection, it is the recipe section in particular, which stands out.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2014In The Clean Eating Cookbook & Diet, the premise is that "Clean Eating is about choosing foods that are as close to their natural state as possible." By doing so, one will reap the benefits of overall good health and wellbeing.
The ideas are not new. But sometimes we need to hear things a number of times before they sink in. Basically, eat seasonally, as if you live on a farm. Ditch the junk food. Eat fresh fruits and veggies, lean meat, buckets of water, and exercise.
Included are shopping lists and menus for two weeks, and 105 tasty sounding recipes. If you think your sweet tooth will suffer, or you will miss carbs, fear not. A piece of multigrain bread with honey is allowed.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2014I keep hearing about clean eating and I was interested in finding out more about it. I came across this book and thought for the price it can't hurt to check it out. I couldn't have been more correct. This book has tons of information on clean eating. It explains what it is in detail, tells you how to get started and gives you some recipes to try.
It has a 14 day meal plan to get you started. I always like this when I am starting out because it is easier for me to get into the swing of things. The part I found the most interesting about this book was the information about food pairings. It tells you what foods can be combined to get the maximum nutritional value out of the foods. This is something that I didn't know much about before so I was excited to learn something completely new. I would recommend this book if you're interested in starting to eat healthy and get rid of all the processed food that so many of us have come accustomed to eating.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2014The Clean Eating Cookbook and Diet delivers what it promises: an easy to follow but comprehensive guide to all-natural eating. It explains what “clean eating” means (eating primarily unprocessed or whole foods), reviews the many benefits of clean eating, and includes sensible suggestions for sleep and exercise. In other words, you can’t eat well in a vacuum; how you eat, sleep, and exercise all go together.
No fad diet designed to induce rapid weight loss, clean eating requires embracing a balanced way of living to promote one’s total health. Clean eaters don’t have to calorie-count or starve -- and they don’t have to pay lots of money for all-organic foods. In fact, clean eaters are expected to eat several small but tasty meals a day, to snack well, and to do the best they can given budgetary constraints and what’s available in their local market. The book’s 105 seasonally based recipes help budding clean eaters get started on appreciating the full range of food available in their new way of life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tolles Buch

5.0 out of 5 stars Change how you think about food & loose weight fast
Bought this book a few weeks ago and I was really happy to loose half a stone in the first two weeks! I don't rigorously stick to eating plan, instead I just use the recipes I like from the book as my main meals and that seems to work well. I don't have time to do the book properly but someone with no kids and more time to prepare might find it even more effective. I was really lazy with my cooking before I got this book, and wanted to make our whole families eating habits better by cutting out processed foods as much as possible. Some great ideas and easy to adapt recipes once you've got used to them. Amazing how far the food you buy for the recipes actually goes, as lots of them have the same stuff in them. Very pleased with it, I just need to keep it up!

4.0 out of 5 stars A new way of life?
This book was nicely laid out, the text was informative and the meal plans and recipes were very helpful
My only complaint is it is not really geared to the UK market as some terms and items are not common to the U.K.
Despite my above comment, I would still recommend this book.

Deswegen 4/5 Sternen.
