From the Inside Flap
Ronald Reagan is more than a revered and popular president--he is a hero to millions, beloved as a persuasive leader who inspired America and shaped the future more than any other modern president. Reagan's everyman insight--stemming from his unique background as actor, sports broadcaster, and labor leader--make him America's most quotable president. In The Wit & Wisdom of Ronald Reagan, author James C. Humes brings together the best observations and opinions of the "Great Communicator." Spanning one-liners, anecdotes, zingers, and little-known stories, this collection also includes commentary about Reagan from friends and foes as well as analysis of his great speeches. The Wit & Wisdom of Ronald Reagan is an exceptional tribute to America's adored fortieth president.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2012He is a President I never voted for, (I voted for Carter), but have learned how great he was and respect him. The liberals can't stand him, but now try to compare Obama to him. He was correct on so many things and understood the individual and was able to connect. The Democrats will continue to trash him and unlike the current occupant of the White House who is more concerned about his own well being. Reagan was a good man trying to do his best. - Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2007The WIT & WISDON OF RONALD REAGAN is warm, revealing and reminiscent of better days. Among this generation of politicians, Reagan shines all the more brightly as a leader of character, confidence, and common sense. Although the media vilified and derided him during his Presidency, America loved him.
The book contains many well-known quips and quotes of "the Gipper" including some which shook the world: "...tear down this wall" and the "evil empire" speech. Others amused and delighted us. "Honey, I forgot to duck". Through it all, the President conducted himself with humility, grace, and wisdom.
"Reaganonomics" was mocked by economists, liberals and the press. But it worked. The economic policies Reagan started with the 1982 tax cut and promoted through his two terms fueled unprecedented economic growth which is still driving the economy today.
From foreign policy to fiscal policy, Reagan stands tall. History will remember Reagan as one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century. This book helps us remember why.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2012Love the book. Written well. Made me chuckle out loud. Wish I could have spent time with this wonderful man.
My book however, arrived a little damaged. That was very disappointing.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2013I got this for my dad for Christmas I think...I got it a while ago.
He loves it. He would come in to the living room laughing and holding the book and tells us his favorite little snippets. It has some quotes that even he hadn't heard before so that's pretty amazing.
He still has it by his bedside table and I know he's finished it so I'm going to say its pretty amazing.
What I have read of it too has been impressive. I love witty remarks (or "snarky come-backs") and Reagan was full of them. There are also some very important tid-bits in here. These small pieces of knowledge are out standing and need to be more well known. I don't want to get too political so I'll just say I think some of it, if taught properly, could actually help the US get itself together and leave it at that.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2010I wish I had purchased a CD instead of the book...I would have loved to hear his voice once more. President Reagan had the most wonderful voice and a wit that no other president could match. His words of wisdom should be a must-read for everyone holding office, just to keep them humble and honorable. Wouldn't that be a wonderful thought? This book is a fun read, and will be read again and again.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2008Those of us who lived through The Regan Years know what an icon is and what Regan brought to the office. This book gives the reader an insight into not only his political life, but his private life. Love him or not you will realize what made him tick. He lent the aspect of "Class" to the office giving people the chance to laugh with him and say "Right on". This book should become a classic.
