PAUL McCUSKER is the Peabody Award-winning writer and director of the audio drama "Bonhoeffer: The Cost of Freedom," along with the multiple award-winning audio dramatizations of "The Chronicles of Narnia," "The Screwtape Letters," "A Christmas Carol," his original series "The Luke Reports: The Life of Jesus" (honored as Best Audio Drama by the prestigious Audie Awards) and "The Father Gilbert Mysteries" (also an Audie Award nominee), all for Focus On The Family Radio Theatre. Forthcoming audio dramas include "Brother Francis: The Barefoot Saint of Assisi" and "The Trials of Saint Patrick" - both for Augustine Institute Radio (AIR) Theatre.

Apart from dramatizations of C.S. Lewis' "Narnia" and "Screwtape," he also scripted the original audio drama "C.S. Lewis At War" and written the companion book "C.S. Lewis & Mere Christianity: The Crisis That Created A Classic." His work has extended to writing the detailed footnotes for "The Annotated Screwtape Letters" for HarperOne. (It is the first authorized annotated edition of any book by C.S. Lewis.)

McCusker is also a writer and director for the long-running children's audio program "Adventures in Odyssey," scripting over 250 episodes as well as 2 of the animated video series, authoring 18 spin-off novels, and serving as the general editor for "The Imagination Station" chapter books. For adults, he has written the Gold Medallion-nominated "Epiphany," "The Mill House" and, with Dr. Walt Larimore, "The Gabon Virus" and "The Influenza Bomb." His plays and musicals have been performed in churches and community theaters across the country. One, "A Time for Christmas," was a Dove Award nominee. His lyrics have been put to music by the Grammy Award-winning Michael W. Smith.

    I grew up, listening to Adventures in Odyssey when I was a little kid on the radio ever since I first heard the first episode when it was broadcast in 1987. I have been a huge fan of Adventures in Odyssey ever since then. I listened to them first on KPDQ 93.3 now 93.9 and I couldn’t get enough of not only the acting, but I love the sound, affects the acting everything about adventures not a seat is fantastic I would highly recommend anyone whether you have kids or not get this collection in all collections of adventures and Odyssey. You will have a wonderful time listening, and you will be transformed as well.

    Over the last few months my children have become big fans of Adventures in Odyssey. This audio collection is some of the best. The stories are well animated and keep our kid's attention. Each episode teaches a moral lesson and many of them teach about history. My kids ask as soon as we get in the car to start the next one. Just to note, our order messed up and Amazon accidently duplicated our order and we ended up with 2 of them. I had intended to send the 2nd one back but after listening to the first few episodes I gave the extra one to a friend who has younger children. It's good stuff!! My kids are 4-8 years old but older children would enjoy it to. It is entertaining for the parents too.

    I am extremely impressed with this series. Very high quality in production, sound effects, acting, etc. Great price and messages, too! My 4 and 6 year-olds can't get enough of these - the only downside (as a parent) is that if I don't change the CD in the car (you get 12 with this set), we end up listening to the same 3 shows over and over! Some of the topics are for slightly older kids - they aren't inappropriate for the younger set, some of it may just be over their heads a bit. I anticipate my kids (boys & girls) will enjoy these CDs until they are 10-12.

    I grew up to the sounds of AIO in my Walkman, so I was excited to share it with my kids on our recent road trip. My only minor complaint is that the first two stories aren’t exactly attention grabbers for new listeners. My kids were reluctant, but since they were a captive audience they had to listen to more and eventually were hooked!

    They are definitely working from a conservative Christian worldview, and they don’t shy away from difficult topics like death. We had to pause to explain or discuss a few things to my kids (age 5 and 6). Nothing inappropriate, just difficult real life topics.

    Overall, a great starter set to introduce or re-introduce you to Odyssey (maybe just play the first disc out of order)!
