His teaching and research aim to build bridges (or better, dig tunnels) between secular and theological disciplines. He has been part of the faculty of Western Theological Seminary (Holland, MI)since 1976 (Emeritus since 2012) and has also taught at the University of Edinburgh, Calvin Theological Seminary, and the Reformed Theological Academy in Sárospatak, Hungary. Dr. Kaiser has written five books: The Doctrine of God (1982, 2001), Creation and the History of Science (1991), Creational Theology and the History of Physical Science (1997), Toward a Theology of Scientific Endeavour (2007), Seeing the Lord's Glory (2014). Dr. Kaiser has served on both the Orthodox-Reformed Dialogue of the World Communion of Reformed Churches, the West Michigan Committee for Jewish-Christian dialogue, and the Dialogue in Science and Religion for the Greater Grand Rapids Area. His wife Martha is a retired primary school teacher and reading facilitator who now works as a consultant. Chris and Martha have three sons and three grandchildren.
