About the authors
Tammie lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with her husband Lee, and loves spending the day in her studio with her dogs Amos and Artie. She began her love of illustrating at a very young age while drawing at the kitchen table with her dad. She has fond memories of sitting for hours drawing things around the house and later presenting them as gifts to her mother. Since she was an only child, drawing became a favorite form of self-entertainment.
Tammie initially pursued a career as a professional ballet dancer before she decided to switch gears. She attended the Columbus College of Art and Design, where she received her BFA. She began her illustration career as a staff illustrator for a major greeting card company eventually becoming the director of the juvenile product line. Having discovered that illustration was her true passion, she left to begin a freelance career in the children's market where she has illustrated numerous books, posters, magazines, cds, games, clothing, and just about anything else you can think of. She has now turned to writing as well and has written her first children's book, Olive and Snowflake (Marshall Cavendish) .
Some of her most recent books include four new titles in a brand new series for emergent readers, Pedro First Grade Hero (Capstone) as well as two new additions to the popular award winning Katie Woo Series (Capstone).
Ransom has published more than 180 books for children, and she is amazed every day that she's able to do this as her life's work. It's no small thing to discover at an early age (ten!) what one is meant to do, and then pursue that dream. For her, the best part of writing for children is that she can move between writing board books, picture books, easy readers, chapter books, middle grade novels, nonfiction, and biography. She was excited to move into picture book nonfiction with BONES IN THE WHITE HOUSE: THOMAS JEFFERSON'S MAMMOTH (Doubleday, 2020) and ONLY MARGARET: A STORY ABOUT MARGARET WISE BROWN (Eerdmans, 2021). Her newest middle grade novel, JUNEBERRY BLUE, was published in 2024 by Peachtree Books.
AMANDA PANDA QUITS KINDERGARTEN and the sequel AMANDA PANDA AND THE BIGGER, BETTER BIRTHDAY (Doubleday) are her first picture books with animal characters! She is proud of her easy readers featuring a brother and sister having fun throughout the year: PUMPKIN DAY, APPLE PICKING DAY, SNOW DAY, GARDEN DAY, BEACH DAY and more. Look for the latest titles in this Level 1 series written in bouncy rhyme, plus the popular TOOTH FAIRY'S NIGHT and GO, GO, TRACTORS! (all Random House).

- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2025Great price for 3 books featuring classic children's stories.
My husband wanted these books to read to his great grand daughter.
They look as nice as the Little Golden Books I had as a child.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2024This was perfect for my daughter as it’s her favorite story.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2024Bought this based on the reviews and I want to add to them! The pictures are cute and maybe I’m too sensitive to stuff like this but I love how the wolf wasn’t drawn in a way that would scare my 3 year old who specifically asked for this story, haha. The pages are impressively good quality and thick. I like how simple the story was told/worded.
I know it’s a classic, but now I see why so many recommend this specific book!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2011I bought this book looking for a way to introduce my daughter to the classic story in a way to her that she would enjoy. I remember reading the story when I was a child, and I pretty much to use my imagination as there were no illustrations. Not only are there wonderful pictures, but the ending is more age-appropriate than the original.
For the most part, the book follows the original story pretty closely. However, the author adds in advice here and there to children, such as, " Never Talk to Strangers," and other things you would like your child to remember. The illustrations are wonderful, and keeps kids interested in the story and the lessons behind it.
The ending is a lot better in my opinion, as the "Big Bad Wolf" doesn't chomp down and eat anyone. My daughter was only three when I purchased this book, and I was pleasantly surprised to see an alternate ending.
The story flows well, and there aren't any boring parts that will leave kids bored. The version I read years ago was a bit more elaborate, but I clearly remember wanting to skip pages and get to the good part. Everything is the "good part" with this book, according to my daughter, who was glued to the book through its entirety.
Again, I just can't say enough about the illustrations. Illustrations are an important factor to young children, and each page was filled with beautifully illustrated characters that went along perfectly with the story.
There are a ton of "Little Red Riding Hood" books available out there, but this one is one of my favorites. If you are looking for more age-appropriate material for small children, this would be the perfect pick.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 9, 2024Looks to be a very nice book, but I am a collector of Little Golden Books.
Sorry and thank you for being so understanding, good seller to do business with. Chuck and Kathy Bielarz 👍
- Reviewed in the United States on June 15, 2016I am a preschool teacher and I bought this book as a gift for my 1 year old cousin. The book is best for 2-5 year olds but simple enough for all ages to listen to. What is nice about this version of Little Red Riding Hood is that nobody gets killed. The book also starts with information about how Little Red Riding Hood got her red cape that she wears EVERYWHERE. This makes Little Red Riding Hood a character that most children can relate to. The book is physically a little larger than most and the pages feel thicker and more durable than most paperback picture books. I bought this along with Little Red Riding Hood puppets, it was a great add-on to a fun gift. Giving the puppets and book is great because it encourages interaction between the child and their caregivers. My cousin also has a 3 year old brother, so this is a gift the whole family can enjoy together.
I hope my review has helped you make a good purchase for your family or friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Märchen mal anders
Märchen mal ganz anders!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superbe pour les bilingues
Même comentaire que pour "The three little pigs"

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book
It's not like the traditional little red riding hood book and I would recommend this for pre schoolers because its to hard for toddlers
