- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2018I downloaded this CD on my Apple itunes and then could never figure out how to use the separate breathing techniques without going through the entire CD of which there are 2.
So, I then purchased the CD's and they're easier to use because after you listen to Dr. Weil's lecture on the lst CD you can put it away and use the breathing techniques on the 2nd CD thereafter. The techniques are numbered so you do not have to go through the entire series with Dr. Weil if you don't have time, you can skip to your favorite breathing technique and proceed. Personally, I love the entire series (it's relaxing!) but it does take about 45 minutes to complete it.
I love the CD. My only negative comment is that after I do all of the breathing techniques (45 minutes) and I feel really relaxed....when I take my blood pressure it's very high and I mean very high. I wrote Dr. Weil a query asking why this is happening but I never got an answer. I'm sure there's an explanation but I haven't found one online or at Dr. Weil's website todate.
If I only use the breathing technique of breathing in to the count of 4, hold for a count of 7 and out for the count of 8, my blood pressure is lowered. Doing this for 5-10 minutes it can lower it 5-10 points. I would think the 45 minute meditation and breathing techniques on the CD would also have that effect but so far, not for me.
If anyone knows why the CD raises my blood pressure, let me know.

Dr. Weil's low key approach not only motivates but also inspires you. On the second cd he guides you through a total of eight breathing exercises, .....time wise they range from 3 minutes to 11.45 minutes. Towards the end of the first cd Dr. Weil packs powerful motivation - he advices the listener to take up the techniques saying it's EASY,TAKES NO TIME, NO EQUIPMENT...YOU WILL ENJOY IT AND IT'S NOT DIFFICULT AND GUARANTEES RESULTS.
The key words, easy-no time-guaranteed results were enough of a kick for me to do the exercises. This is the second week I do the exercises and so far I find them soothing, energizing and strangely peaceful. I highly recommend this cd to anyone exploring self healing.

For this particular product, it is nice that he has a soothing, calm voice, his explanations are clear, & his theories make a lot of sense. I was impressed to know that it is published by a medical doctor, teaching an alternative for maintaining health & healing besides medications. And it is something available to all of us without costing a thing. His theory is worth a try to me for those reasons alone. I feel it was money well spent. I only wish it had arrived sooner.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2010Dr. Andrew Weil has become one of my heros throughout the years as a doctor who reaches out into both western medicine as well as eastern. He takes what works from both sides and shows it to the public in a sensible, honest and real way. I'm glad to see his Breathing CD is no exception, a guided breathing meditation that makes sense for everyone.
If you are a complete beginner or have had other meditative practice, this sets a standard of key breathing techniques, and the best part of all is that it is guided. How many times do we get sidetracked? Plenty. So just hit play, and you'll be able to follow along. Really, you can get personal, quality breath work and meditation time in between his prompts. It keeps you on track until you want to do it on your own.
I've bought the CD a few times for myself, friends, massage clients, and would be pleased to refer it to everyone.

Would have liked a different format to allowed exercises to be played one after the other without the extra talking bits, but it's only a minor point.
Interesting passages of music by Mark McCoin, I would like to know what they are and if they could be obtained on their own.

J'ai acheté ce CD car j'avais des problèmes de respirations. Ce CD m'a permise de mieux contrôler ma respiration en apprenant des techniques spécifiques avec des exercices. Cela aide en cas de gros coup de stress ou pour aider à s'endormir et faire le vide dans sa tête. Je recommande vivement.

Excellent explanations of the benefits to the autonomic nervous system by simply breathing properly, something most people do wrong. Highly recommended. Good choice of easy exercises. Very useful knowledge for meditators and hypnotherapists.
