About the author
Alise Oliver is, at her soul level, a teacher. Her purpose in life is to inspire and motivate others to be the best version of themselves that they can be. She is a gifted teacher and specializes in helping others realize they are stronger and more capable than they think they are.
Several years ago, Alise was mired in an unhappy job and relationship. After a lifetime of thinking she was a victim of her life, she suddenly realized that the only person who could fix that was herself. Recognizing that she was in the driver’s seat of her own life was an empowering discovery. She quit her job, sold her house, and embarked upon a three-month cross-country journey during which she made many enlightening discoveries about the limiting beliefs and fears holding her back from attaining her true potential.
Alise holds a Doctorate in Music, and she is an American Council of Exercise certified personal trainer. In addition, Alise is a CrossFit Level 1 certified instructor and coached CrossFit classes at Derby City CrossFit in Louisville.
She is a certified Law of Attraction Life Coach and lives in Missoula, MT.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2016This book is extremely comprehensive and detailed. Alise has included 52 "regular" workouts and 13 themed workouts for a total of 65 different workout options. Think that will keep your class busy for a while? The workouts are great, but they would be tough to implement if you didn't understand the exercises in the workouts. Luckily Alise gives extremely detailed descriptions and photographs of every exercise described in the book in The Glossary section at the end of the book. I write for a fitness website and am up to date on the fitness the industry, and even with that background, I picked up a lot of brand new useful information from this book.
If you plan on coaching your own bootcamps or group classes, this book is a no-brainer. If you workout at home on your own and program your own workouts, this book will keep your workout schedule full for at least a year.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2016I was lucky enough to be a part of many of these classes. I can tell you that there is something for all levels of folks and classes in these. I started as a complete novice, but with proper instruction which is laid out in this book I worked my way to believe I could do more. The basics are here. Work hard. Lift heavier than you think you can (hide the weights less than 8LBS). Use proper form. Rest. Repeat. Stretch. Plank for a long damn time.
These aren't crossfit WODs. They are bootcamps. Good for men and women and for all levels as mentioned. Your classes will get stronger. Using the techniques laid out in the book, you will make an impact, and that's what you are probably after.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2016I am not an instructor or trainer. I attend a local boot camp class but sometimes when I have to miss class, I want to do my own workout. Finding quality boot camp work outs on the internet has been disappointing. This is the first resource that has exactly what I am looking for. Not only is there a plethora of different workouts, but there are illustrations for every exercise . This book is fantastic!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2018Gave you a lot of creative and fun bootcamp workouts to try out, whether you are doing it for yourself or teaching a class.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2016This book is really filled to the brim with everything you need to make the most of your workout. Was interested in this book from a personal perspective. I wanted inspiration and new ideas for workouts. This book really delivered and the author made it easy to understand and follow. You can follow the programs straight off if you want to or you can pick and mix as you like! With this book I will never be without inspiration for my workouts for a loooong time. Don't miss out!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2020Good book; however I purchased it for my outdoor bootcamp and a lot of the exercises require equipment. Other than that, it has been somewhat useful for my business.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2018Great workouts for anybody who wants to lose weight, become fitter, leaner and stronger and see results! Great pictures and explanations of exercises and great bonus exercise workouts for special occasions as well. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced exerciser, if you like bootcamp, bodyweight, circuit style workouts this book is for you!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2016I am a group fitness instructor and taught a class this morning using one of the book's workout formats. It was a hit!! What used to take me an hour or more to plan a class only took me a fraction of the time using "The Trainer's Big Book of Bootcamps." The workouts are easy to follow and Ms. Oliver does a great job explaining the exercises. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to mix up their workout routine and to instructors who want to save time on class planning. Two thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars It works
Gave it to a personal trainer who was bad at boot camps and circuit training and now she is much better!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great ideas
This book is exactly as described on the cover. I think that it has to be re-written adding some info on the group training concept and maybe categorising the workouts. It would be even better!
