Cravings: Hungry for More: A Cookbook Hardcover – September 18, 2018
Purchase options and add-ons
It’s a life of pancakes that remind you of blueberry pie, eating onion dip with your glam squad, banana bread that breaks the internet, and a little something called Pad Thai Carbonara. After two years of parenthood, falling in love with different flavors, and relearning the healing power of comfort food, this book is like Chrissy’s new edible diary:
• recipes for quick-as-a-snap meals (Pan-Seared Fish with Herby Browned Butter; Jalapeño Parmesan-Crusted Grilled Cheese)
• recipes for lighter, brighter, healthier-ish living (Roasted Carrot and Avocado Salad with Lime Dressing; Vegetable Noodles with Parm & Basil)
• recipes that, well, are gonna put you to bed, holding your belly (Skillet Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Blondies; Sleepytime Stew & Cream Cheese Smashed Potatoes)
And all of these delicious meals will have you hungry for more.

About the Author

Welcome to my second cookbook . . . so glad you came!
Two and half years have passed since Cravings hit the shelves, and the most popular question I got during the entire process of writing book two was “So what’s the theeeeeeme of the next one??” My first reaction was, “More of the same, OK??” because honestly, I’m not really into gimmick books like 500-Calorie, Three-Ingredient Meals in Under Ten Minutes. I want lifetime books, books that sit on my shelf for years and years and years with sticky pages and balsamic fingerprints.
But the truth is, this book isn’t a carbon copy of the first one at all. A lot has happened over that time—you could even say I’ve . . . grown up a little? I got to travel and taste more things around the world, and this book has some recipes with brighter flavors and maybe slightly less cheese and gravy and . . . ham than Cravings. (Not that there’s anything wrong with those things! It’s just that I realized that it’s also nice to eat really well, even indulgently, without a food-coma nap.)
Speaking of sleep (hey, I’m a newish mom and every new mom will tell you sleep is literally the only thing you think about), I have to tell you that I barely slept a wink between the time the first book was sent off to the printer and the day it went on sale in February 2016. I had toothpick-eyes nightly, wondering, Would you buy my book? Would you make my food? Would you like it? Would you get food poisoning or drunk from a bread pudding loaded with booze? Were there any errors? OH MY GOD, did I write to use a cup of salt when I meant sugar?? Would I PUBLISH MY OWN PHONE NUMBER ON MY DOG’S COLLAR IN A PHOTO? (YES.)
And then your tweets and posts and cooking parties started—there were even people who made EVERY recipe and documented it—and I swear this meant everything to me, more than any article or review or annoying think-piece interview about whether a model could actually cook.
Yes, I can cook because ANYONE can, and that was the whole entire point of Cravings in the first place. You proved my theory and then some, and then some, and then some more—all the way to the top of the New York Times bestseller list!
A lot has changed since then, obviously—we’ve got Luna, another bebé on the way (by the time this book comes out this boy-child will have also arrived). We moved. And I got really, really sick. Postpartum depression really kicked me in the ass, and it took me a while to get strong again, to feel good, to get off the couch and, quite frankly, to have an appetite for anything but a pillow and blanket. But in those dark times, I became strictly a couch-sleeper, keeping robes in my pantry so I wouldn’t have to go upstairs to change. And John slept on that couch with me every. single. night.
One of the ways I knew I was healing was that I found my way back into the kitchen, at first slowly, and maybe just to watch my mom put together something simple in the hopes that I might take a few bites. It sounds like a cliché, but starting to cook again really helped me get back on my feet and get back into normal life. So this book is filled with food that served as landmarks in my road map to something resembling normalcy (or as normal as a crazy life like mine can be).
Cooking has always been my safe haven, even when things around me are changing at warp speed. So I hope this book is as stabilizing and filling a force in your life as the making of it was for me. The good part is, no matter how you feel, I know you’ll be sure to let me know! I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Xoxoxo,
Chrissy

My thoughts and pics on the dishes we tried…
Everything bagel cream cheese breakfast bake. I’ve made this twice already. It’s absolutely divine and a nice way to get your bagel fix while keeping the carbs a little lower. There’s 3 bagels in 8 servings. I used 24 ounces of spinach instead of 10 the second time and loved it even more.
Cool ranch taco salad. Delicious, but the intro made me cough-laugh my sip of coffee.
Carrot and avocado salad with lime dressing. Total keeper. Lazy posh. Fast, healthy, and yummy!
Roasted butternut squash and pomegranate salad with garlicky honey-dijon salad. Fantastic cold weather salad. Flavorful, filling, and good for you. Perfect.
Chicken teriyaki burgers with toasted coco buns. Yuuuuuuummmmmm!!! Loved these. The addition of the coconut makes it!
Crispy bacon and sweet pickle patty melts. I loved these, but have nothing to compare them to because it was my first patty melt. My hub had to finish mine because these are pretty serious. If you haven’t had one before it’s like a grilled cheese with a burger rammed right in there.
Philly French dip sandwiches. All the yes. We smeared the cheese that was supposed to be dip inside the top bun.
Crispy coconut chicken tenders with pineapple chili sauce. These were my favorites. Like coconut shrimp, but they’re chicken. The sauce is perfect, too.
Crispy-coated oven-roasted sweet potato wedges. Awesome!
Taters, shrooms and peas with parmesan cream. I made this for breakfast after crossfit and it is so wonderfully decadent!
Pepper’s spring rolls. These are honestly the best spring rolls I’ve ever made. Actually, the best I’ve had. Period. My store was out of bean sprouts, so I subbed in cole slaw mix and that worked just fine. Totally make these!
Ron’s hobo burger dinners. Easy, yummy, and cute to bring to the table. I think they’d be serious fun for camping.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2018Chrissy Teigen, the author of this cookbook is an ex-model, author, mother of two and is married to John Legend. A beautiful woman, so down to earth, that she talks about her post partum depression, the changes her body went through while pregnant and post partum. She is so normal and well liked that thousands of people follow her on Instagram and in other forms of media.
Now, she has authored her second book, called Cravings, Hungry For More. I am late to this party, and do not have her first cookbook Cravings, but this one looks so good, I may have to purchase number one. Chrissy wrote this cookbook because so many of her fans asked for another. After having two children, she now brings the labors and loves of food from all over the world. Some simple dishes that do not take too much time are included. She has tried to incorporate less caloric foods that speak to our cravings for comfort food.
Chrissy starts the book with her introduction, why this book came to be and what she was looking to bring to us. This is a 250 page cookbook filled with love and amazing photographs. Chrissy and her family are shown with the food she and her husband are preparing, and Warning:do not start reading this book if you are hungry.
There are ten jam-packed chapters filled with recipes and some stories. Starting with :
Breakfast and Brunch
Soups
Salads
Sandwiches
Vegetarian or Vegetariable
Snacks
Potatoes and Their Friends
Thai Mom
Suppers
Sweets.
I cannot in good conscience choose one recipe from each chapter, I want to try them all. Take a gander at the photos, I dare you, and not think about which recipe you will try first. Alright one recipe that really amazes me is Twitters and Uncle Mike’s Banana Bread. This is like no other banana bread recipe I have seen. It is made in a bundt pan. The comfort food we all want and savor is here. We also understand that healthy eating and exercise is the best thing we can do for our bodies, but for that time when we need more, here it is.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2024I first saw this at our local library. I bored it for a few days and decided I had to add it to my collection. The book is full with wonderful easy to prepare recipies! I really love and recommend this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2023I originally rented this from the library but I liked it so much I bought it! I usually don’t believe the celebrity cookbooks but this one is awesome. Chrissy Teigen is hilarious and can teach you how to whip up great tasting food. I love how it’s both American and Thai. I made her bacon clam chowder and my brother said it tastes better than the restaurant! So I’m making it for family when they come over. I am also making her tom yum noodles and boy does it smell good! Everything I have tried has turned out and I’m not an experienced cook by any means. This book is great for beginners and for people that have basic cooking skills. Highly recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2019I bought both books (and the knives and the measuring bowls, pinch pots and small dessert dishes...) I cook for yacht crew (about 12-15 people) and most of these recipes are easily doubled or tripled and work very well for large groups. They are also a delight to read because of Chrissy's wit and humor dispersed throughout the recipes. Both books often end up on my bedside table as evening reading. I've learned a whole different side of cooking and new tastes with these books. I love the Thai recipes and also appreciate the good old home grown American comfort food. This version is a bit lighter than her first, with a more refined palate. I really do appreciate that the recipes actually work - if you have ever used a recipe that did not turn out how it should you know how disappointing that can be - but you will not be disappointed with this purchase! From 15 happy yacht crew and me. PS. I am claiming the banana bread recipe as my own - everyone loves it and I'm not telling them my secret!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this...
I just bought it and...the book is gorgeus!! I'm not that skilled in the kitchen, so I love that the recipes look easy to make, they are even great for inspiration (to adjust to what I have in my fridge at the time) and her comments on each recipe makes it fun. I feel very happy with my purchase.
