- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2023This is a deep and thoughtful look at the business of podcasting. I learned a lot for building an audience, but even better, how to narrow the scope of my show so that me and my audience knew we were right for each other right away, making marketing easier and less expensive.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2025Storytelling is something I need to improve on. I will definitely use some of the principles in this book to improve my storytelling for my podcast. Thank you for a great book!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2020Nuzum offers actionable advice on planning and executing a podcast. He knows his business, having had such podcast hits as the TED Radio Hour, Where Should We Begin? and others.
His tips are commonplace yet most podcasters begin without asking them. Who's your audience? Well, it isn't everyone. Nuzum suggests finding a picture of your target audience. A single person to whom you'll be speaking personally. Sounds corny, but when he builds out the strategy, it works.
If you want to begin podcasting, or if you want to improve what you are already doing, this is a good place to start.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2022I know nothing about podcasting so wanted to check it out. The author does a good job laying it out step by step with what to me appear to be practical tips learned along the way. He explains himself well and lists the equipment needed. I found it a nice primer for a know-nothing like me.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2024What ever you buy book wise if you learn one thing it's worth it! I learned several, thanks for sharing your book and wisdom !
- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2020This is the best book I have read on how to start and shape a podcast. I have been podcasting since 2007 and I was amazed at the number of ideas I learned in the book. Because of my experience as podcaster, my friends all the time ask me for advice on starting a show. I always tell them that this is the first book they need to buy!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2020The most helpful part of this book is the concept of describing your podcast in ten words. That alone makes this book a valuable resource for anyone who has or is planning a podcast. There’s a lot of time spent on radio history and relate topics that didn’t interest me. As an individual, one horse, podcaster I enjoyed the read and got a lot of help from the book. Definitely worth a five star rating.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 8, 2021I'm just in the process of starting a podcast. I found out very interesting and helpful. As a result, I've tightened up on my vision of why I'm making the podcast. I even got the description down to give words. And it guides all that I'm doing with the podcast. It's a very helpful way to better understand how to create sand grow a podcast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must for Podcasters
Ammmazing Book!
- @jimajamesReviewed in the United Kingdom on October 10, 2022
5.0 out of 5 stars Saves light years of trial and error on the mic and in the edit suite.
A practical and insightful book for a podcaster; regardless of where they are on the journey. I've produced over 500 episodes of The UnNoticed Entrepreneur and even though, in the top 5% of the shows worldwide, I read "Make Noise" and was ashamed of my lack of attention to detail.
Eric brings wisdom and humour and makes it easy to read to the end.
I bought this book instead of an expensive mastermind; and found it to be a great investment. A mastermind will be a better investment having taken the time to do the groundwork that Nuzum recommends on the 10-word summary, avatar definitions, and a focus on creating the story narrative instead of an interview format.
If you're a podcaster - this is a sound investment.
