- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2023I purchased this product in anticipation of a field class with the author. I also have the book-form Photographic Guide which is without peer. The products complement each other though they both feature stunning photos and clear schematic diagrams of habitat associations. I wouldn't unfold this map-size chart while standing knee-deep in a mire, but they work perfectly well on a picnic table or your car's hood, and will allow one lay out specimens (or one's lunch) without worry of soiling or tearing.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2021This is a beautifully illustrated, full-color guide to the northern mosses. However, I guess I failed to read the description -- I was expecting a quick guide, handy to carry in my pocket during hikes. This would fit nicely in a jacket pocket or pack, but I wouldn't describe it as a "quick" guide. The contents of the sleeve unfolded into two large, two-sided posters illustrating a myriad of mosses...too unwieldy and impractical for field reference. I'm sure it is comprehensive, but I was -- again, my fault for not having read the fine print -- expecting something handy I could use to identify mosses I find on my walks. The posters would be great on the wall of a classroom (if they weren't two-sided), but will be of limited use to me. Disappointed, because they really are beautiful.
