- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2017Good for school if you need a primary source. Some of it is in Spanish though so be careful with that
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2015This diary is short and sweet, but interesting nonetheless.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2016Going to the source of Portola's amazing journey was very enlightening, indeed. His journey was not without hardship and suffering. And it reminded me that nothing of great value is seldom gained without these two.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 26, 2018After reading this, I discovered Portola was not interested in details. No wonder he missed Monterey Bay on his way up the coast. This diary is repetitive and and boring, virtually nothing of note. No wonder it took him over 30 years to make the rank of colonel. It appears he should have stayed a captain or been busted back to one.
