Editorial Reviews
Review
“The tables within each of the chapters are very helpful. Also, the notes within the chapter help the student understand the specific point about the information discussed. The questions after each section help the students practice their coding skills.”
“I think that the pedagogical features are a great aspect of this textbook. I love how the objectives are easy to comprehend and the review questions are straight to the point. The notes and examples are a big help when I am trying to explain a concept. I am constantly telling my students to add the examples and notes to their coding manuals.”

- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2024I NEEDED THIS BOOK FOR SCHOOL AND IT WAS IN GREAT SHAPE FOR BEING USED AND PRICE WAS REASONABLE
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2012I purchased 3-2-1 Code It! for the first time last month. I needed a publication that would be beneficial for beginners and old-timers! This book is excellent! It is easy to read, provides awesome examples, and thus far I have found very few errors in the answer key. I also love the fact that a section of hospital coding is included (ICD9 Volume 3). I appreciate the examples for HCPCS coding as well. The best part is that ICD10 guidelines are listed and it demonstrates the differences between ICD9 and ICD10 coding. The author did an excellent job!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2013I bought this to use in addition to my text books for college in the Health Information Program. I'm due to graduate in March and this book helps reinforce a lot of information I've already learned as well as prepare for the RHIT exam. Good resource.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2021Great book, super helpful for medical coding
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2018No answer key provided. No way to know if I am answering the review questions correctly. Guess you would need a teachers edition for answers.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2014I have many coding books, but I always appreciate new ones that provide more examples. Examples allow deeper understanding. Every coding book provides a different "take" on topics, and this also promotes a deeper understanding.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2013Books in great condition. Format and content look good. No answers for practice coding questions OK if you are a student and have an instructor for answers and explanation but if you are doing a self study, you have no guidance.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2020I finally got the correct edition
