    Kinda of too high brow if you aren't Jung-aware, but it provides hope that the dungeon of grief and mourning you are in, have meaning and purpose. And while grief is forever, mourning is not. As a therapist who knows Jungian ideas, this was just what I needed for personal grief and mourning.

    I am very happy that I found this book on Amazon. I have read it and found it refreshingly open and finding myself able to relate to Dr. Fidel-Rice's intentions for sharing her years of experience with both her students and colleagues, as well as anyone who is wondering what could possibly br transformational about grief.

    Like many people, I have viewed grief as something that should be dealt with and get over. That's what we often hear. "get on with your life," get over it. This professional says, "wait a minute."
    She chooses the term, "alchemy" intentionally and her book is about transforming grief into hope' it has a spiritual quality, especially when you learn her methods of helping her clients become the agents of their own alchemy.

    This gem was given to me upon the loss of my Mother. As an only child, feeling my way through the loss of my loudest life-cheerleader, I feel that Annamarie is my wise big sister, leading me to a clearer, more-joyfilled journey. Because of her, I am taking time each day to mourn my Mom, to carry my pain with me, in such a way that is honoring to my Mom while also life-giving to those around me. I am embracing my process instead of stifling it, due to Annamarie's wise counsel. I feel more alive and more grateful because of this book. Thank you, Annamarie!

    Finally, a profoundly useful book that deals with grief and loss. Dr. Fidel-Rice's work has helped me navigate the grief process both persoally and professionally as a therapist. I have learned a most important lesson: to HONOR my grief, to CONSCIOUSLY grieve, rather than swallow it and avoid it, as we are taught in our culture. My patients have benefitted as they learn they can transform their grief, find healing and hope, which ultimately enriches their entire life.

    This book is soulful, enlightening and beautifully written. I highly recommend it for those struggling and lost in their grief as well as professionals who are looking for a transformative grief model and practical steps for honoring the grief process for successful outcomes.

    Dr. Fidel-Rice does an outstand job of weaving together the elements of alchemy and the process of grief, and how alchemy can serve as a metaphor for the soulful pilgrimage of grieving. The Alchemy of Grief: Embracing Mourning through Grace offers an approach to grief that is respectful and intentional, something not often embraced in our culture. Additionally, through sharing the stories of others, Dr. Fidel-Rice eloquently presents the experiences and complexities of grief encounters. Many people who are struggling or entrenched in the depths of grief, would surely benefit from reading this sensitively crafted work, as well as professionals who are accompanying others in their grief and loss journeys.

    An excellent book that describes the various phases of grief that one will encounter in a soulful, personal way. Although Kubler-Ross's stages of grief are helpful to many, the author helps bring a very soulful healing touch to grieving that is often missing from the sanitized psychiatric grief process.

    I recommend this to all of my patients who are dealing with a loss. They have all appreciated the author's personal touch and healing words.

    This book is written primarily for therapists however I recommend it to anyone experiencing grief. The author brings new ideas to the grief process and offers insight into the natural process of grieving using her own story and the symbolism of Alchemy. It is well written and provides comfort. Highly recommend this book.
