- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2024An incredible follow up to avengers no surrender in both are essential if you’re reading immortal hulk to understand the HulkS personality shift and new motivations going into immortal hulk. This is around the gods of Olympus and is also required reading. If you’re currently following Ewings guardians of the Galaxy this explains how all the gods of Olympus fell and resurrected and if you’re a fan of Hercules or vision, they both really shine in this book, and so does Wanda the character development is incredible. It’s also the introduction of the barbarian into the marvel universe so if you’re in the savage, this is also gonna help you understand how that came to be. This book is full and complex over what it means to be what makes one truly alive and what mortality means to be human , can you be immortal and still be human? Can you still be truly alive? If you can’t die these questions are explored interestingly and the culmination at the end of this book the way they tied it up. I’m not gonna spoil it, but it is near perfect complete I could’ve put it down. I sat down and read the entire thing and was sitting in about three hours , you don’t necessarily have to surrender to it, but it really helps if you do
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2021Avengers: No Road Home. This is a quest story, very simple with a few surprises in store for the reader. Several elements seem straight from a standard D&D adventure but with a Marvel feel. Bringing in a variety of non standard Marvel A list superheroes was a little disappointing but the story with saved with a little sword, sand, and sandal from a very special guest. Crom indeed!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2020It's a great read although I wouldn't say it's better than no surrender but it's definitely a good effort and worth checking out. It's much shorter than no surrender which I don't mind as long as the story is good. The writers once again prove that you don't need the big three avengers to make a good avengers story. And this particular group of characters works well in the story because they aren't really a team and so it's great to see them try to work with each other. It starts off centered around Hercules and his home then it brings in conan into the marvel universe about halfway through the book. It's probably cause they wanted him for the spin-off series savage avengers which he's a part of. This is a great story I recommend you check it out.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2020I read the individual issues of this and was gobsmacked as everyone involved crafted this epic Avengers story that involves so much more than just stopping the bad guy. Unfortunately, i feel my own words are nowhere adequate in describing how epic this story feels. This has easily become one of my favorite Avenger stories in recent memory, and i can only say thank you to the fine folks who crafted it for us.
Is that glowing enough? Did i lay on enough praise?
Cause, you should get this, you really should. Just because its got Hercules and Conan in it is enough for me, but i got so much more.
Now go, buy this.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2019Oh no, the universe is in trouble (again) because a primal force of darkness has killed the Greek gods (again) and it's up to Hercules (again) and...
...wait, wasn't that the plot of Chaos War? Yeah, pretty much. At ten issues this feels like a super-compressed storyline which has a cast of characters either a little too big or too small for what it needs to be. It reads like a blockbuster movie script that needed a couple more passes but didn't have time because of executive meddling (which might have been the case; I have no idea, but it has 3 writers and 8+ artists so there's definitely a sense of too many cooks spoiling the soup). Ultimately, this is a quick one-off plot to bring Conan the Cimmerian into the present day so that SAVAGE AVENGERS can be a thing.
On the plus side, if it's a mess, it's a fun mess. It's not going down in history as a classic run for anybody, but all of the artists are in good form here, there's some decent dialogue, and the characterization is actually appropriate for just about everybody. The ending feels super-rushed (and yes, there's an homage to Jack Kirby and Stan Lee being from Long Island), but nobody was just phoning this one in. This was a genuine attempt to do an old-school Marvel crossover with lots of references to continuity old and new. Everybody did their homework for this one.
If it's a little disappointing, it's only because it is a flash-in-the-pan where the Olympians are worf'd (again) and ultimately the good guys win because it's a comic book (literally). If this had been a little longer, it might have made for a much more interesting run...but it wasn't, so we all take what we can get.
The weakest part is probably the cast: this was pretty much a random assemblage of characters that could be spared for a one-off storyline, and which could easily be split into teams for a random MacGuffin hunt. Which is unfortunate, because they could have had a lot more fun playing off different characters, but couldn't because they were pressed for time/pagespace. Which is unfortunate because we never get to hear Conan interact with Rocket Racoon or trade bowshots with Hawkeye or anything like that. It's a no-team which assembles over the course of ten issues to take out a threat which completely disappears at the end, and so do they.
Really, it's a Defenders book in all but name.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2019This story is easily a good thing to read when you are basically bored. I loved how this ragtag team of heroes with their own baggage have to come together to face of against a great enemy. It also has a good sense of real life, at the end of the story not everyone has a happy ending and they still have to deal with the world and every day problems. I think that if you are to take something from this story is that you can always be better because there is another day. Do your best and even if you fall down, you get back up.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2022Good book. A lot of action and good plot. I need more words so here they are the the the.

5.0 out of 5 stars Segunda vez leyéndolo
Creo que me ha gustado más en esta segunda lectura que en la primera.
Puede deberse a que la primera se hizo en grapa y la cohesión fue menor.
Plata pura, ya que el oro es su precuela.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bello peccato che è in lingua inglese
I disegni e le illustrazioni sono stupende, ma la storia non posso leggerla perchè in inglese. Ho scoperto che esiste la versione italiana quindi probabilmente prenderò quella in futuro

5.0 out of 5 stars Un clásico moderno
'No Road Home' es una de las mejores historias de los Vengadores en, valga la redundancia, toda su historia. Es un gran homenaje a 80 años de historia de la editorial, una aventura con sabor clásico. Totalmente recomendado.
