- Reviewed in the United States on June 19, 2019This book by Michael Wolff is basically a sequel to his first one: FIRE AND FURY. The real tragedy presented in this book is the expose of a dysfunctional WH and President who has learned nothing in 2+ years and only gotten worse. There are no less than 23 chapters contained herein focused on either a particular individual, subject, or event. A few examples: Mueller, M. Cohen, Flynn, Kushner, Hannity, Manafort, Kavanaugh, Putin, Trump Abroad, Home Alone, Nov. 6, Shutdown, The Wall, etc. The method of organizing the material in this book may disrupt a sense of flow and continuity, but it is easy to read while being informative at the same time. Only the devout Trump worshipers would deny what is presented here. Wolff is scrupulous with his detail and sources. He has to be in order to avoid a liable suit. If he appears to rely too much on the words and thoughts of Bannon, one need only look at the daily tweets emanating from T and the revolving door of those who are constantly coming and going to fill key administrative positions to confirm the incompetence, immorality, ignorance, and duplicity of T and the WH. It is downright ugly and scary. To see all this is to look directly into the face of Medusa. To not look at this is to suddenly wake up and be shocked to discover that we are once again on the edge of a cliff or about to be involved in yet another war of our own making.
There are probably more than a dozen books currently available about Trump and surely more to come. The beauty of Wolff's presentation is that it contains side splitting hilarity in its detailed description of characters and events, though none of this should be a laughing matter. That Jared Kushner should be T's key adviser - an arrogant class climbing individual, mediocre student, and nearly bankrupt realty Mogul! That Sean Hannity, a bloated pompous faux news reporter, should be one of T's unofficial major consultants! And that's only the tip of the obelisk. One individual who demands scrutiny is Mitch McConnell, T's enabler par excellence. He is playing Cardinal Richelieu to T's Dumb Louis. Wolff's book would make good reading while alternating it with the Mueller Report. They complement each other. Read it and judge for yourselves. It is eminently worthwhile.
Trump is a TV lover like no other President before him. Yet he denies what is recorded right there on the screen before him when it reflects his own unchecked lying, swaggering, infantile behavior, alienation of allies, lovemaking to autocrats. "I just received another beautiful love letter from Kim!" Someone should turn this into a song. It may also remind one of the last scene from Dr. Strangelove.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2019Essentially, “Siege” is a sequel to “Fire And Fury” by the same gossip columnist. As such, it likely will face at least as much skepticism of some allegations as did F&F. Of course, detractors will be quick to claim it is fake news and that their guy was fully exonerated, despite Robert Mueller’s clear, unmistakable retort that the Mueller Report did not exonerate Mr. Trump.
Will “Siege” further weaken the Trump Administration? Will “Siege” add to the growing chorus of bipartisan calls for impeachment? Will “Siege” provide a fun, informative read or audio book to pass time? Read this review to get a feel for this headline-grabbing insight into the ‘real life’ version of the hit movie, Truman. Then, perhaps, you can choose to purchase or to pass on this latest book of outlandish
BLUSH FACTOR: As would likely be expected, there are eff-words. Not merely a few to get your notice and not merely several for artistic purposes. Simply put, I did a search on my Kindle Edition and found 69 eff words. Some might say it is a pity to have a president who is so crude in his speech that parents have to think long and hard before sharing his quotes and other antics. Others will decry that a BOOK written about him needs the same degree of parental thought before sharing with friends and family. As for me? I’m an adult conditioned by life experience to not be bashful. Still, I believe I would not be reading this aloud with members of my church or young children. Still, I DO appreciate honest quotes being displayed in this nonfiction tome.
WRITING & EDITING: Although the writing and editing, in the mechanical sense, is excellent, I do get the feeling that controls that might have been exerted on many writers were not brought to the table for this work by a bestselling author of Michael Wolff’s background. Possibly, the folks were more interested in profit than in ensuring the accuracy of some of the charges.
I would have appreciated if the author had provided links to audio recordings to back up some of the more outrageous charges. Just so I could be certain he was not making things up…
BOTTOM LINE:
As to the questions posed at the opening of this review, it is my opinion that “Siege” will neither weaken, nor much increase demands for impeachment. There just isn’t a lot of new, shocking insight. Nor does the quality of journalism rise to the level of Bob Woodward’s “Fear,” or Michael Lewis’s “Fifth Risk.” Despite these points, and, despite the excessive use of rough language, I did enjoy reading and listening to this work. Not as much as a Stephen King novel, nor as a James Michener epic, but I did enjoy it.
BOTTOM LINE
Four stars out of five. Actually, 3-1/2 stars, but Amazon doesn’t actually permit this.

5.0 out of 5 stars how Trump manages to remain indomitable
If FIRE AND FURY has provoked passion and high interest,SIEGE:TRUMP UNDER FIRE is then a thrilling continuation of Trump's session and saga. The moment comes to understand how falsehood, lies and fake news can lead to " a new political genre".But what will the outcome be? How can Trump be believed by enough people to remain indomitable?
Michael Wolff's accurate reports of a great variety of speeches and multiple investigations in a highly descriptive (and often humorous style ) enhance the alarming characterof this idiosyncratic president.

Great writing, interesting sources. Really enjoy Wolff’s style of writing. Can recommend for anyone into WH and partisan politics, in addition to ‘Fire and Fury’.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read that explains how bad Trump was as a President
Another book that shows and illustrate that Trump was mentally unfit to be the President of the United States. I fail to understand why such high percentage of the US population root for such a loser and demagogue who absolutely doesn't care about anyone else but himself.
